What do you create? I design and create handknitted and crocheted accessories and simple garments. This typically includes shawls, scarves, snoods, ponchos/wraps and hats as well as cushions, throws and blankets Where do you make your work? I work mainly from home in my dining room which doubles as a studio. I have a work bench that runs down one side of the room and lots of floor to ceiling shelving to store books, haberdashery and some of my stash! What do you create? I make a range of embroidered products and one-off pieces using a combination of free machine embroidery and hand stitch. Where do you make your work? I work from my attic studio that is a messy, lovely, creative space where I have everything set up and ready to “go”. My trusty Bernina sewing machine is central to everything I make and I can surround myself with all my materials and threads that are an inspiration in themselves. What do you create? I make contemporary jewellery, predominantly with silver and vitreous enamels and a scattering of precious stones and gold. My jewellery collections include rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and brooches as repeatable designs and one-of-a kind pieces. Where do you make your jewellery? I have a workshop at home, a fully insulated shed! It was not originally intended to be my workspace so I share it with all the gardening tools. In my garden studio in Kings Heath I create abstract ceramic wall panels that are a personal response to landscape, coastline and rock formations. I hope not only to record what I see but also to give a sense of the place: the colours, light, surface texture, shape and pattern within the natural world. To create one of my wall pieces there are many stages and it is quite a lengthy, time-consuming process. [ 415 more words ] http://madeinkingsheath.com/2017/10/05/spotlight-on-melanie-keevil/
