BELFAST CASTLE GIFT SHOP HAS CLOSED DOWN: Without our knowledge, Belfast City Council included the gift shop premises in a new, large catering contract and we were not given the opportunity to tender for the shop as the incumbent business, despite being promised. We have been told by management that the shop will be used as a storeroom, ending over two decades of this popular amenity being available to both local residents and tourists. We have always prided ourselves in our strong support of local business and we are saddened that Belfast City Council has not shown us the same consideration. Independent businesses are the life-blood of the economy and bring cultural diversity to our city. The closure of our successful gift shop will affect many other small businesses, as well as local craftspeople and artists from all over Belfast. For some, our shop was the only outlet for their work. We have now left the premises, so we would like to take this final opportunity to extend our grateful thanks to all of our wonderful customers, suppliers, artists, craftspeople and dedicated co-workers for their support and loyalty over the past few years. We will greatly miss your friendship and professionalism and we wish you all the very best in the future.

How losing my beloved dad set me on a path of healing and a 500-mile European pilgrimage
Congratulations to our local author, Carol Ann Creagh, who has just been featured in a Belfast Telegraph article about her wonderful and inspiring book, 'A Short Stretch of the Legs - My Penny Mile Camino'. Cavehill is very close to Carol's heart, as it was to her late father, so we are privileged to stock her amazing book and to share her news article with you. Carol's book has been on sale in Belfast Castle Gift Shop for several months and has sold out many times over!
