WildFoot
Description
Wildfoot is a peaceful woodland space for the coaching and physical education of human movement in nature. This page is dedicated to inspire individuals, groups and an online community towards a daily diet of active living and pain free movement within natural environments. Our mission is to rewild the true human that lies within you.
Combining simple training methods like primal move, yoga, calisthenics, gymnastics, free running, strongman and ancestral skills we patiently challenge the sedentary to realise their full human potential. Our minimal approach and simple programming within the beautiful woodland facility aims to both detox the mind while strengthening the body.
Centred around our love of physical culture we also hope to impress to a community of natural movers our love of wildlife, art, photography, cooking, farming, creative thinking and sustainable living.
We are not open to the public. By appointment only.

Today is both International Forest Day and World Down Syndrome Day. We will celebrate and support both by planting our potted beech saplings while wearing lots of socks. Life’s to short to find matching ones. Happy Wednesday. #Lotsofsocks #WDSD18 #wildfoot #coach #movement

My sanity is called into question on an almost daily basis. Friends, family and even WildFoot followers often ask why I commit to some extreme health and well being measures. The interesting thing is I’m asking the same questions of them. Maybe not outwardly but I’m looking around at hundreds of people I know and wondering if they are ok. I worry for their mental health. From my perspective things don’t look great and my concern is equal to theirs. I understand it isn’t conventional to climb trees in your forties. To spend 80% of your days without shoes. To grapple and fight in the afternoons. To sit in a cold or frozen river daily. To lose hours throwing axes or balancing stones on beaches. Or whittle away mornings conscious breathing and meditating before teaching adults how to play. These are not the pursuits of a well rounded obedient citizen but to me they are perfectly normal. What I observe as abnormal is waking up exhausted to force feed, before fighting through two hours of traffic. To sit on a rolling chair for eight hours, under artificial light, at a job you hate. Wishing away days in a chronically stressed or depressed state just to buy things you don’t need to impress your peers. This is not everyone. Many love their jobs, lives and pursuits but I know for a fact most don’t. In my opinion the system is highly flawed. Our society is completely out of whack. Our over exposure to technology and domestic comfort has made us sick and weak. Plus we commit to working in roles that are non fulfilling on any level. Reintroducing progressive environmental conditioning on a daily basis can trigger the physiological responses to building a robust, healthy body and mind. I believe nature holds all of the keys to a lost evolutionary health and strength we desperately need to navigate a challenging world. If we expose ourselves to some of its extremes in the correct dose it can create huge positive physical and mental effects. In turn there lies the prospect of both emotional freedom and basic happiness. So this is one factor in doing what I do. Allied to this ancestral biohacking idea we need to also pay attention to the way we live, move and work. Like finding our true purpose or healthy communities to thrive in. Stack these all together for a real quality of life. Finally to answer the burning question if I’m insane? I guess it depends on which side of the river you’re sitting. #wildfoot #coach #movement
Lovely to be featured rolling in the launch of Ardour’s newest clothing line along side SBG Belfast head coach Damien Mulgrave. It might have rained for days but it hasn’t dampened our spirits at WildFoot. The forest is alive with energy and movement. Students rising higher and further in their abilities. Pushing themselves as a group and us as teachers. Together we look upward. To the sky. To the stars. #wildfoot #coach #movement
This is not the end to some sort of sweat fest session. We rarely go to exhaustion at WildFoot. It doesn’t take much intelligence to train a person or group to collapsing in a heap. Only on occasion do we ever go to failure. With careful planning and consideration we gently push the ceiling higher and higher with our students. Gradually and progressively building their strength, skill, flexibility, conditioning and movement. This is a post workout mindful/meditation practice. Teaching students to connect with breath. To their bodies. To care for themselves. To lessen the suffering that life can often cause. Not to increase suffering through a thoughtless workout. Life is stressful enough, so why make your workouts an added stress? We hope to create strong, happy, mindful movers. #wildfoot #coach #movement
Finally some sense. #wildfoot

PLEASE READ If you read nothing else on WildFoot please read this. Yesterday I spent the morning with some mini eco warriors, doing a beach clean up on the Co. Down coast. I left feeling hugely inspired and optimistic about the future of our planet 🌍. Anna Neal is ten years old. She is so concerned about plastic waste and rubbish in our seas that every week, along with her two brothers and parents, finds a beach and cleans it the best she can. She has also set up her own website and social media platforms to raise awareness of the issue and discuss their efforts. Some of our WildFoot students and I had the pleasure of joining Anna and giving a helping hand yesterday, despite a rotten day. For a huge lover of the natural world, it’s destruction breaks my heart. The planet is slowly being destroyed. Warming. Pollution. Destruction. Extinction. Those are the facts. In the end humans will follow suit. I believe it could happen in our kids lifetime. Really and genuinely from all that I have read we are screwed without radical action. The only hope is rapid change, in culture, habits, outlook, politics and following the efforts of bright concerned kids like Anna. Kids that don’t talk but take action. That lead by example. We have to do the same but in millions. Making changes to our lives. Our businesses. Our homes. In the way we care and respect our planet. Please be a person of action. Go like Anna’s page. Show your support. Share her voice. Create your own pages. Your own clean ups. Take pride in this beautiful island. Be like this little hero and go make a difference. Thank you.
Another great week almost completed. Students flying forward with their physical improvements during testing week. Going beyond both mine and their own expectations. Myself and the boss have been keeping our heads down and putting in some serious training shifts. What little down time we had was happily spent with some mini eco warriors beach cleaning a Co. Down beach yesterday, which I’ll talk about later. For me it’s juggling my time between barefoot training, keeping my BJJ on track and maintaining enough strength and skill to be able to teach. Three major moving parts I believe compliment each other. Sharing the energy output for each is the balancing act. Currently I’ve got it about right but throughout this year each part will have to be put first to try and tick off my goals. Today it is of course Mother’s Day, so after finishing our respective training we’re out with our awesome Mums. Celebrating the fact that without their influence neither the boss or I would have half the drive or strength we have for all that we try to do. Happy Mother’s Day. Happy Sunday. #wildfoot #caach #movement
We’re eyeing up the weekend. Ready to move and connect with the people, places and things that we love. Preparing to immerse ourselves in nature. To find joy and pleasure in the simple things. The things that will nourish or senses and bring contentment to our souls. Happy Friday folks. #wildfoot #coach #movement
