Sophie Brooks, Yoga Teacher, Nottingham So what brings me to yoga?
Practicing makes me stronger, more balanced and fit plus it's great for my weak lower back!!
But it’s not just about being able to touch my toes but equally as much about feeling more in touch and control of my body, even for a moment.
If you practice yoga or meditation you might know the moments I'm talking about - when everything just feels at ease and clear. They can transpire to the rest of your day, week or even life...
When was the last time you stopped (fully stopped… sleep doesn’t count)
Work, family, life's surprises, social media overload, the state of the world - these things we're a witness to every day can leave us in a constant state of flux, never really taking time out. Practicing yoga can give you some time and space to relax and recuperate.
This isn't unattainable hippy talk - you don't need to wrap a leg around your head in class to feel the simple but powerful benefits of yoga. They're simply the result of regularly taking some time out for yourself, which can improve your overall wellbeing :)
