Meet Derry, Arbroath's newest fan! Yesterday we had a special guest in 9 year old Derry. Although it was a result to forget it was Derry’s first football match. Derry is autistic and busy places can be distressing, but he has recently started football training at school and has taken a keen interest in football. Well Derry got to meet Manager Dick Campbell and Chairman Mike Caird alongside Events & Commercial Co-ordinator Julie Harper. Despite the result Derry was so happy at his day and can’t wait to get to school tomorrow to tell all his friends. We have a new fan and we can’t wait to see Derry and his family back at Gayfield!
Mental Health Mental Health effects us all, but there sadly is often a stigma about talking about your feelings and opening up, especially amongst men. Today is Suicide Prevention Day and we are sharing the The SPFL Trust post. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 which is a staggering and very sad fact. There has been several well known sports stars who have shared their stories and battles and how getting help makes such a difference. Mental Health can slip under the radar as you can never truly tell how a person is feeling so it is so important that if you ever do need someone to talk to then you should reach out. Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are there to listen and to help and you can call them from any phone on 116 123. Later this week the SPFL Trust will host it's latest Mental Health First Aid Training Course for clubs, funded by the Chris Mitchell Foundation. Please know that help is available You are never alone.
SPFL1 Arbroath 1-4 Albion Rovers - Match Highlights Here is the action from yesterday's match at Gayfield.
Today we had Rio and Kody Swankie as our Mascots. Both boys are the sons of Lichtie Gavin Swankie and looked very smart in their Arbroath kits! They led out the teams with Arbroath Captain Mark Whatley after spending some time in the tunnel with both teams and the referee. Unfortunately for the boys Arbroath couldn't get the win today, but we hope both the boys enjoyed their day and their family enjoyed seeing them run onto the pitch!
We welcomed Monifieth Athletic 2007 to Gayfield today to be the latest local club to take part in our your Youth Matchday Experience. The young players watched the game from the stand before coming onto the pitch at half time for two tightly contested matches before a lap of honour. We hope all the young players, coaches and families enjoyed their afternoon at Gayfield.
A few snaps and thumbs up from some of the Gayfield Crowd today before kick off.
Today's Ball Boys Thank you to the Ball Boys from the 2006 Lads Club who were on duty around the pitch this afternoon.

Spare a thought.... Today was a bad day at the office, but we are thinking of Arbroath Director Brian Cargill and his family who are currently on holiday in Lake Buena Vista in Florida! Brian took in Miami FC vs NY Cosmos on Wednesday which finished 3-3 - Apparently Miami's manager Alessandro Nesta was asking about the Famous Gayfield Steak and Black Pudding Pies! Brian and his family are hunkered in an ready to brace in case Hurricane Irma hits. Brian seems quite excited! "Got water, beer, wine, crisps and nuts so it's gonna be like Hogmanay!!" Stay safe!
