Today at 19:30 CET/1:30 PM ET, SpaceX will conduct the first test flight of the #FalconHeavy from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. When the Falcon Heavy lifts off it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. And it will send a car towards Mars. For this test flight, Falcon Heavy’s side cores are flight-proven—both previously supported independent Falcon 9 missions in 2016. SpaceX will attempt to land all the three Falcon 9 boosters, two on land and one on the drone ship at sea. The 27 Merlin engines will generate 5 million pounds of thrust. On board is Elon's Tesla Roadster and Starman, a slightly more attention grabbing payload than the usual steel or block of concrete. The aim is to launch the car into a Earth-Mars elliptical orbit around the sun, 400 million km away at the furthest, traveling at the speed of 11km/sec. The Falcon Heavy will be used for payloads to the moon and Mars and to place heavy satellites into geostationary orbit. Godspeed to our friends SpaceX!!! Let's make history, again. Spaceport Sweden will be part of the UN expert meeting on "Space for Women" next week. Our CEO Karin Nilsdotter will be talking about leadership as the key to the future and will be working with representatives from different parts of the globe on a project to achieve diversity and gender equality in the space industry. Its not only the right thing to do but the smart thing to do and critical to the industry's own success - in a competitive environment where the biggest battle is over talent and staying ahead of the curve. We wish to put forward good initiatives and thanks to all of you who have taken the time to discuss this. More ideas are welcome! #space4women #UNOOSA #UNWOMEN
