Looking for our plant fertilizer in the stores? eSHa PRO-PHYLL now has a new box! What do you think? Safe for shrimps, fantastic for plants! Many nutrients required for healthy plant growth are not present in the aquarium. An aquarium is an ‘artificial’ environment and therefore differs from the conditions that plants and fish are used to in the wild. PRO-PHYLL is a unique combination of nutrients and fertilisers for freshwater aquatic plants specially formulated to improve plant growth, colour and condition. PRO-PHYLL provides your plants with the nutrients they need and are used to in the wild. PRO-PHYLL has been specially formulated for easy adsorbtion by plants through their leaves and roots.

This weeks “Did you know…”: Did you know that most of our products can be combined? PART THREE. Did you know, you can now de-worm your fish? eSHa gdex is against skin flukes, gill flukes and tapeworms also known as flatworms. eSHa-ndx is against nematodes also known as roundworms. If you combine these two products you can now de-worm you fish from the most common worms known in aquaria. Use eSHa-ndx on day 1. As this is a ‘one-dose-only’ product you are now finished with this product. On day 2, do a water change (siphon the gravel/bottom of the aquarium to remove the dead worms) as described in the leaflet of the eSHa-ndx. Then, after the water change, dose eSHa gdex and keep an eye on the fish. Use eSHa gdex for three days (read both leaflets before use!). On day 7 you can do a partial waterchange and siphon the gravel again.

This weeks “Did you know…”: Did you know that most of our products can be combined? PART TWO. next week PART THREE. (last week we did part one). If your fish are sick they often have not only 1 disease but a few at the same time. Because of this we made our products so most of them can be combined. Here is a small overview: - If your cichlids have bacterial or fungus infections: use eSHa HEXAMITA. - If your cichlids have flagellates (hole-in-the-head disease): use eSHa HEXAMITA. - If your cichlids have whitespot or velvet: use eSHa EXIT. - If your cichlids have skin or gill flukes or tapeworms: use eSHa gdex. - If you have severe infection of hole in the head disease and skin or (with for example wildcaught discus) gill flukes: use eSHa gdex with eSHa HEXAMITA. As whitespot and flukes bury themselves in the skin and gills of the fish, they leave little holes in the skin. These little holes are very accessible for bacteria and fungus. You can combine these products with eSHa HEXAMITA to lower the chance of bacterial and fungal infections. If you combine products ALWAYS read all leaflets of the products and use standard dosage. We do not recommend to combine our products on normal basis, only if your fish have these specific diseases. If you hesitate or have questions about combining products please do not hesitate to ask us. Freshwater Summary: eSHa 2000 + eSHa EXIT = okay eSHa 2000 + eSHa gdex = okay eSHa 2000 + eSHa EXIT + eSHa gdex = only if your fish actually have white spot and flukes at the same time. eSHa EXIT + eSHa gdex = okay. eSHa HEXAMITA + eSHa EXIT = okay eSHa HEXAMITA + eSHa gdex = okay eSHa HEXAMITA + eSHa EXIT + eSHa gdex = only if your fish actually have white spot, flagellates and flukes at the same time. eSHa HEXAMITA + eSHa 2000 = NOT okay.

This weeks “Did you know…”: Did you know about the waterconditioners? Water conditioners are frequently used to remove chlorine, to bind heavy metals (such as Copper, Zinc and Lead), but especially to protect the skin layer of fish. Under normal circumstances and dosages water conditioners cause no problems. However when used excessively, because of their strong binding capacities, water conditioners (de-chlorinators, heavy metal binders, etc.) can potentially decrease the effectiveness of products such as disease treatments, algae / snail treatments, etc. or even give rise to reactions. They bind not only chlorine and heavy metals, but also the active components in products such as above mentioned treatments - and not just the left-over components, as is sometimes claimed. Unfortunately, a water conditioner cannot differentiate between 'useful' active components in an aquarium and the residue. You need a water conditioner if: - You are setting up a new aquarium. - You do not use tap water for your aquarium. Tap water which is suitable for drinking, does not contain heavy metals, therefor it is not necessary to remove and / or bind them. - Your tap water contains chlorine. One can smell this very well when taking a shower. In this case it is sufficient to aerate your tap water well (using an air pump) or by using a shower head or watering can when changing water. Water conditioners can remain active for even over 1 year. The active components of water conditioners in aquariums can be removed only by changing water or by filtering over active carbon. Solution: change 50% of aquarium water with tap water which is suitable for drinking without adding water conditioners*. If necessary repeat this for a second time. * If your water contains chlorine, you can remove this easily, by aerating the water for 24 hours with an air pump, by using a shower head or watering can when changing water or by filtering the water once over fresh active carbon before adding it to the aquarium.
