EuroSpeleo 2016 is well on the go EuroSpeleo 2016, the 5th European Speleological Congress started last Sunday and is going to be a great succes with about 1.300 cavers attending the event. The first days of the congress were blessed with lovely sunny and warm Yorkshire weather. A wide range of lectures was given and many delegates went caving in one of the pre-rigged caves. The Cave Protection Symposium that was held on Monday and Tuesday and which was organized within EuroSpeleo 2016 by the European Cave Protection Commission (ECPC) of the European Speleological Federation was of a high standard and very well attended by delegates from many diffferent countries. We congratulate Jean-Claude Thies, chairman of the ECPC and his team with this great success. Here some impressions of EuroSpeleo 2016 so far.

Workshop on EuroSpeleo Projects (ESP) - How to get funding from the European Speleological Federation (FSE) for your speleo event/expedition (Session code: WG6) Dear all, Thanks to the Organizers of the EuroSpeleo2016 Conference (http://eurospeleo.uk/), the Fédération Spéléologique Européenne (FSE) herewith announces its first Workshop on EuroSpeleo Projects. All cavers are very welcome to the Workshop. Summary The EuroSpeleo Projects are one of the flagship activities of FSE and substantially contribute to bring European cavers together. Since 2006, when FSE has launched its EuroSpeleo Projects, well over 150 events/expeditions received sponsoring either through FSE funds and/or equipment sponsoring by FSE Partners (Beal Ropes, Aventure Verticale, and Scurion). Every year 10 to 20 EuroSpeleo Projects are approved by the FSE. In case all necessary criteria are met the sponsoring can amount for a value up to 2,500 EUR for each EuroSpeleo Project. The paperless Workshop will provide a detailed explanation of the recently much updated ESP Guidelines and the concept behind it, on the receivables and benefits provided by ESPs as well as on the responsibilities of applicants. Q&A-style discussion on sponsoring issues is encouraged. The Workshop also aims to diversify the currently received ESP applications by enabling more FSE member countries to apply for a EuroSpeleo Project. Audience may wish to inform itself about the ESP Guidelines before the Workshop at the FSE Website (http://www.eurospeleo.eu/en/events/eurospeleo-projects-fundings.html). However, this is not a pre-requisite for attending the 2-hour Workshop. The working language of the Workshop will be English. Other language skills may be available in the room. Date & Time Thursday 18th August from 11:00 to 13:00 Please note that date and time may change, so check during the event. Very best regards For the FSE Bureau: Michael Laumanns (Vice-President)
