APPEAL: During this spell of very cold weather, PLEASE be on the lookout for all our Senior Citizens, and especially those who may be living alone, to make sure they have all the facilities necessary, and to make sure they have enough food and heat to keep them going through this exceptional period of cold weather.

Artist in the Community Project A meeting with Michael Fortune will take place Thursday, 15th February, upstairs in May Byrne Trust House Coolgreany (use side entrance) at 7.30pm.More information about the project please see article below. Coolgreany Community Alert. Anyone who may be interested in applying for Home Monitor Alarms for loved ones, should get in contact with: Dan 087-4605166, Katriona 085-1535678, Marion 086-8685007. Those alarms can be provided free of charge for those who must be over 65 years, & living in our local area, and are in contact with the local Community Group. Also at present up to 2 Smoke Alarms are also available free for anyone who may need them, so please contact any of the above numbers to check out availability of either of above items.

Old Kilnenor Historical Society. John Kavanagh from Camolin will give a presentation on the timeline of the Coolgreany Evictions and on the work done to date on the book which we hope to publish next year. This presentation takes places this Thursday night 14th December at 8pm in the May Byrne Trust House, Coolgreany. If you would like to get involved in the book or have any documents or artefacts relating to the evictions please come along. All welcome. €3 for non-members.

Co. Fire Services. Coolgreany Community Alert in conjunction with Wexford Co Council Assistant Fire Officer Mr Ray Murphy will deliver a Talk & Video Presentation on Fire Safety in the Home, at the May Byrne House on this Thursday night 7th Dec. at 8 pm, also he will be explaining the availability of Free Smoke Alarms for those who may qualify for them in our local area. Margaret Quinn Muintir na Tir Development Officer will also be attending.

Johnstown Coolgreany Senior Citizen’s Party. The Johnstown Coolgreany Christmas Party will be held in the Woodenbridge Hotel on Sunday, December 3rd at 1.30 p.m. In the past decade we have noticed a significant increase in numbers due to the growth of the parish and people remaining active in their later years. In a departure from tradition and in the interests of accommodating a growing Senior population, it has been decided to dispense with the traditional invitations. Attendance at the party is open to those aged 60 and over. Due to the increasing numbers and to cover the costs of holding the Party, the Committee have decided to issue tickets at a cost of 10 euro per person. This covers lunch and the band afterwards.
