The sun was shining on Sylane today when the community gathered to celebrate Proclamation Day. The children treated us to a wonderful display of dancing, music and history!! The 6th Class provided an insight into the seven signaturies of the original Proclamation of 1916 and read a revised Proclamation for Sylane NS in 2016. The tricolour was hoisted by the oldest and youngest pupils in the school to a chorus of Amhrán na bhFiann. Thanks to all parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends for coming to show their support today!! It was another great day in the history of Sylane NS!!

3rd Class hit the road today and took their learning out of the books and into the environment when they visited Kilbannon Church and Round Tower. Martin Curley of the Heritage in School programme accompanied us and told us lots of information about the rich history of our local area. A big thank you to Mammies Sonya and Therese for helping with the transport!! It was a really enjoyable trip!
