Get Halloween Ready 🎃🐾 Halloween is a fun time for people but a very scary and indeed dangerous time for animals. In preparation for the fireworks, we recommend that you all start getting your pets used to these sounds using these two videos: https://youtu.be/Fle7rLvoTK0 https://youtu.be/peWPeFyMDb4 The aim is to gradually expose your pets to these sounds in a safe, controlled manner. You should play the videos regularly, starting at very low levels, gradually increasing the volume until reaching real-world levels. This really can help your pets cope through this period. Come along with your dog to our Get Halloween Ready Workshop Friday 20th October in the DSPCA, Rathfarnham €35.00 per dog This 1 Hour Workshop will give you the tools to help prepare your dog for all the loud noises on the lead up to and for the night of halloween. We will give you tips how to keep your pets calm, occupied & mentaly stimulated on the night. You will have plenty of time to practice before the big night. NO previous training required! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/get-halloween-ready-workshop-the-dspca-tickets-38463903571 Call us on 01-4994795 www.kingofpaws.com #TrainWithKindness

Tuesday Morning Cuteness🚨 😍 FREE Puppy Play Dates in Dublin SPCA dog park this Saturday morning ! Early puppy socialisation is critical!🐾 Puppies that grow up in isolation – both from other dogs as well as from a wide variety of humans – have a greater tendency to develop behavior problems later in life such as fear-based aggression. Puppy play dates are a great way to socialise puppies.🐾 During Puppy Play Dates your puppy will display a range of behaviours including chasing, ‘wrestling,’ play growling, yips of excitement and yips meant to say ‘back off.’ This type of play is normal and occurred whilst your puppy was with his or her litter-mates and must continue with their peers throughout their puppyhood. Like people, puppies have a variety of personalities and play styles. However, in general puppies are ideally suited to safely teach each other the rules of canine engagement, to help other pups learn impulse or self-control, and to help pups develop good ‘bounce back’ skills. – Looking forward to seeing you there!🐶 Book your place here: 🐾 http://kingofpaws.com/classes/puppy-play-dates/

Mental stimulation is a great way to tire your dogs out indoors and to keep their minds busy through what can be a stressful time for them. If you don't already have puzzle feeders for your dogs there are plenty ideas you can try out with things you might have lying around the house you can create some fun puzzle feeders just using your recycling. We have attached some ideas below and you can post and share any other ideas you may have! ⚠️Make sure to keep an eye on your dogs using anything plastic, we don't want them choking.
