Annmarie has sent this message of thanks to everyone who donated and/or took part in her fundraising tennis marathon yesterday. It was a hugely successful event that raised €1540 for the Children in Crossfire Charity. Well done and thanks to Annmarie for a mammoth effort and keeping the energy and spirts up all day! "I just want to send out a huge thanks for the generousity of everyone yesterday who were able to be part of such a wonderful day on the courts from the bright early morning to the close of the evening. . There were lots of amazing gestures and dontations, special thanks to Cliodhna Denny for setting up a nail bar manicure letting people chip in for charity, Aileen Butterfield who baked delicious mince pies and goodies, hats off to Olive Moran who brought medals, gifts and prizes for the day, all such wonderful additions! Huge thanks to Christine Grier who helped get the raffle started and set up last week and Ulf, Conor and John who helped with finish the raffle draw in the Hill pub on Sunday night and were witnesses to our winners so big congratulations to Ken Green who won a night away in the Headford Arms with a glass of bubbly and afternoon tea, Peter Flanagan who won the brunch for 4 in the Merrion Hotel, Stephen Harte who won a €100 voucher to The Church Bar and Restaurant and Carol Harte (no relation) who won the dinner for 2 in the Lemon and Duke! Between us all we raised €1540 for Children in Crossfire so far and counting for the event and song as I also now have a song/single for the charity too! Lastly, thanks to the generousity, kindness, wonderful messages, great support with each slot people coming along and joining in the fun all joining forces to make such a wonderful day at Mount Pleasant, a great dinner on Saturday and having the day full for 10 hours long some coaching/some playing is such a credit to the vibrant club that Mount Pleasant is so really big thank you to all the membersfor supporting the event at Mount Pleasant and our guests on the day, thanks for being a part of this special occassion...As the song says... We are very saddened to learn of the passing of our friend, honorary member and staff member Joy Acheson yesterday afternoon. Joy has worked and been a member in Mt Pleasant for over 40 years and is best known for being the cornerstone of our Open Week for the past 30 years. She was an extraordinary lady who touched the lives of so many visitors, competitors and members of Mt Pleasant. She will be greatly missed by us all. May she rest in peace x
