Dear customers, It is with huge regret that we must announce the closing of our shop in Newbridge. When we came to Newbridge almost 8 years ago there was little or no other seafood available in the town on a daily basis but we changed that with a huge variety available every day. One of our biggest challenges in the last few years has been the sheer drop of people in the town, bad traffic management meant the town has become almost impossible to get in or out of and shoppers it seems have decided to stay as far out of the town as possible to do their shopping. Lack of any seafood promotion in Ireland has also played a huge factor in our closure. There is no promotion of seafood and when there is there’s no distinguishing between fresh Irish products that fishmongers like us sell and defrosted & imported products that are available in supermarkets. We’d like to thank our loyal customers over the last few years that came to us every other day or week or month, the ones who know the difference between fresh Irish seafood and how not to be fooled by the Irish flags on imported & defrosted seafood in some supermarkets. We like to think we helped educate even just a few people on how to buy good quality produce ☺ We are in talks with somewhere local in the town that wants to possibly stock our fish and we will update our customers on this early next week. We will be closing at the end of this month on Saturday 31st March.
Our shop will be closed on St Patrick's Day and on the Bank Holiday Monday 19th. We will be operating early wholesale deliveries only on the Saturday 👍

For anyone wondering why fresh fish is scarce this week ☺ A single French boat off Kerry, must be lost 😂 But we do have stock on a few fresh items like Salmon & Bass along with a few other bits. Now with Storm Eleanor on the way boats might hold off heading out for another few days so we'll keep you posted as we go.
