Riverbank Arts Centre hosts a programme of local, national and international productions including theatre, music, opera, comedy and visual arts. The venue comprises of a 180 seat auditorium, a children’s gallery, a contemporary gallery hosting both local national and international artists and a café.
Riverbank Arts Centre is a member of Nomad Theatre Network which furthers the development of the performing arts in the North Midlands region and extend the parameters of regional, national and international performances available to venues and their audiences; Riverbank Arts Centre is also a member of Strollers Touring Network which is a network of 10 Theatre/Arts Centre venues located across Ireland. It is currently the largest touring network in the country. This enables the center to bring the best of national theatre to the county of Kildare while also providing visitors to Kildare the opportunity to stay in the county and see some of the best produced theatre, music, comedy and opera on our stage.
The art house cinema at Riverbank Arts Centre is now a full digital system supported by Cill Dara Ar Aghaidh which is financed by the Irish Government under the Rural Development Programme Ireland 2007-2013 and by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in Rural Areas. It has proved to be an invaluable part of the centre, programing high quality art house films and more recent releases.
