Hi friends It has been brought to my attention that Westies are being put to sleep because of a skin problem. I can help you once again. I repeat, no dog needs to die. The Sunset Appeal is going to become an agent for a skin cure called Bob Grass. One of my show dogs suffered from some type of ecsema after she had her first litter. The vet tried everything and it would not clear up. It was getting worse and she had no fur on her back legs or tail. I was at a show with one of her pups and I was asked about her mum. When I told them, I was told we will soon cure that and was given a jar of Bob Grass skin cure. Three months later we were back in the show ring. When I got Sunset out of the pound she was covered with mange and at death's door. She was taken to Barrowside on her way down to me, and sent home with treatment for mange and an appointment to go back in two weeks’ time When I took her back to see the vet she was delighted with her. She got her coat back. I was asked if I was feeding her fillet of steak! Just to be on the safe side we gave her another injection for her skin. The one place you will not get the hair back is her elbows. I was told to bring her back a month later to get spayed. When she went back a month later both elbows were covered with fur. How did I do that? Bob Grass skin Cure. The little pup dumped in a back covered with mange at six weeks, was treated with the skin cure and bathed with a puppy shampoo. He went to his forever home in six weeks with a full healthy coat. It will take about a week for me to get set up. Just give me a ring on 051 562484 and I will give you all the details. Pictures show when she was in the pound and then 3 weeks later

Hi friends, Our spay week was a great success. We did forty three cats. They were all cats people had taken in and had given them homes. They did not want to any more but they were quite willing to pay the small donation to get them spayed or neutered. It also brought to my notice the feral cats on a derelict site in Mary Street. People were feeding them but nothing was being done to get them spayed or neutered. The site has been sold and turned into a building site and their safe haven is disappearing fast. In April there were about thirty cats, now there are about seven. Over the past two weeks we have being monitoring them and got a good idea of their routine at night. They are young cats. We put traps down and they have been well investigated. They sat on top off the trap and had a wash. They are not hungry enough to be desperate for food and to go into the traps. If we do not get them in the next few days we will be too late. They will wander off. There will be nowhere for them to sleep. The new windows will be in and the building will be secure. It is such a shame as there is a loving home waiting for them. I would like to thank the work men for all their help over the past two weeks. They have taken my phone number so if they found kittens without their mother they would phone me. In the past I have not got involved in the spaying of feral cats. Trap and release, which is one of the conditions of the grant from the Agricultural Board. I did a spay week instead but now we have traps and with the kind help from Tony in Barrowside Vets we will be spaying and neutering feral cats for a small donation of your choice which will be greatly appreciated. If you have too many we will re home them in a sanctuary. I would like to thank Pat from Denise’s sanctuary for making my dream come true. I always said there is a home for every unwanted animal if you look hard enough and do not give up. Just keep trying.

To Anne: So sorry to hear of the loss of one your cats, it does not matter how many you've got, each one has a special place in your heart. He's not far away, he will still walk by your side . THANK YOU ANN FOR CUTTING YOUR PHONE OFF THIS MORNING AND GOING UNAVAILABLE. I have someone to help me two trap cats in Mary street, she used to work for the Ispca. please take the traps into barrowside WE WILL STAY WITH THE TRAPS barrowside has two traps - how many cats are you feeding? I apologise for not making it clear, any other cats will be taken out into the county to an animal sanctuary were there are fifty other cats running free and all the food they can eat and living a happy cats life. jb mooney the founder of the sunset appeal

Thanking you for all the comments on Ann Roche and Feral Cats she certainly does a lot of good work refusing to help spay cats in Mary St. Please also look up our post on the April 26th last which better describes what is happening.

Ann Roche you should be a shamed off yourself, you are an Ispca inspector and it is your job to look after animals. That's what you got the €17,000 grant for. Those poor sick wild cats you are feeding in Mary St need veterinary treatment and to be spayed or neutered and you refuse to put a trap down because they might be stolen overnight. Stay with the traps - the cats are starving, they will soon go into the traps. You'd rather leave them there sick and starving when there is a loving home waiting for them and any others would be released in the country to live a happy-free cats life with all the food they can eat. All you had to do was trap them and take them to Barrowside and all it would of cost you was your time. Is that too much to ask of an Ispca officer?

On the 27th of January a very sick puppy was brought to me. After talking to a neighbour, we had a very good idea who the puppy belonged to. Also, a number of dogs covered in mange were found. I reported this to the ISPCA, giving them all details. This was early February. And nothing was done. With so much evidence, if they had got up off their backsides, there could have been a prosecution and they did nothing. On Easter Sunday, a very, very good supporter of the Sunset Appeal refused to support the Sunset Appeal anymore because of the condition of Joan O’Connor’s dogs, mentioned above. I rang Johnny Colfer (dog warden) straight away. John asked me if I could get my hands on the dog. I told him I would. Within 3 hours the dog was in Johnny Colfer’s hands. John is the only dog warden in County Wexford and he desperately needs help. He cannot be in 20 places at once. On the Friday, Johnny Colfer and a member of the ISPCA, who does do her best and is worthy of the uniform she wears, visited the home of Joan O’Connor, where the two dogs on the premises were in perfect condition. So nothing could be done. She denied owning the little whippet bitch, which Johnny Colfer had received many a phone call over and the dog which I picked up. When are the ISPCA going to get up of their backsides and do their job? It’s no good complaining they’re stretched to the limits, when they can’t be bothered to go out and do the job that they are paid for. I think a €20,000 grant should go a long way to stop the cruelty in Ireland. One thing I will say, they do a fantastic job with farm animals. If they’re not interested in domestic pets, why don’t they give domestic pets up and let the ones that do care do their job. I personally offered Ann Roche of New Ross ISPCA who uses the same vet as me to help her with the cats in Mary Street in New Ross. She bit the head off two of the members of staff of Barrowside Veterinary Hospital who are the most fantastic help that anyone could get by saying she did not want to have anything to do with Barbara Mooney. She’d rather see the cats poisoned. If the ISPCA would only take a leaf out of Dog’s Trust’s book and work with the other rescues, the dog problem would very quickly be a lot better and many lives saved. And not one penny grant does Dog’s Trust get. But they’re helping by taking dogs out of the Irish Pounds and giving them forever loving homes. I’m 85 years of age with limited funds and space. I will close with the Sunset Appeal slogan, Sunset never says no. Barbara Mooney, Founder and Chairperson of the Sunset Appeal. PS The Sunset Appeal was started to help the ISPCA

Hi friends Does anybody know the whereabouts of this dog on Ennis dog pound page. He was put up on Ennis dog pound with a matter of hours to live. Before his low life owner put him to sleep the excuse given no one would take him. I did not see it until late on the Sunday. As I am idiot with the computer, all I could do was put a comment. I will give the dog a home and my phone number is 051 562484 and pray to God I am not too late as it was a pound it is usually done on a Monday morning. Late Sunday night I got help after working for over an hour but there was no phone number and she is not online. A text message was sent offering the dog a home but no response. First thing Monday morning I rang the Ennis dog pound and I was told she did not have the dog. It was someone using her page and she knew nothing about it. IS THE DOG DEAD OR ALIVE? Is there anyone out there who could give me some help on this. There are two homes waiting for him, better than being dead at such a young age The other point, I wish I could retire at the home and any help would be greatly appreciated. YOU SCUMBAG LOW LIFE OF dog OWNER I would not give you dead rat. REMMEBER GOD PAYS HIS DEBTS WITHOUT MONEY. I also ask you to go in to my facebook page and sign my petition. I know you are going to say that won’t happen but if we do not try we do not know so please give me your support on this and share REMEMBER SUNSET DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO SAY NO. I’M ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY 051 562484 Thank you JB Mooney whose nickname is bulldog with horns.
