facebook.comIt is suggested by facebook that I change my description of writer/editor to include 'local business.' This would be wrong. My writing and editing is not a local business, but a personal occupation and earner. I'm told it will be changed anyway if I don't change it myself.
I'm so pleased that some of you who took the writing course have opted for further tuition. Preferably one or two at a time, as they need to be at roughly the same level and working on the same kind of project. Good luck to all who entered competitions... still 6 weeks to go until we hear the results!
My writing course is finished and was a success. I am now taking people for tuition in writing fiction, non fiction and memoirs at my own house in the Dublin Road, Nenagh.
The course got off to a flying start, ten people, lots of interest. So happy. Great feedback and two new people for next week. I have room as one is unable to attend every week and another, not fond of night driving, is coming for daytime classes at my home. I'm still getting enquiries. Have decided to go on after the 8 lessons with specialised tutorials. It's all go!
Its quite exciting running a course again. I've taught small groups from home, but no full course for more than 20 years. That being so, it's nice to see Michael Manning, star pupil last time round applying for this time.
I should have a short article about harvesting in the 'fifties, plus an ad for the writing course and two old photos.
Still two places left for the Creative Writing Course. I went for 8 originally, but after talking to the manager, I can go ahead with 10.
I was feeling quite nervous at holding my first writing course for more than ten years, but now I'm working on the updates, am getting more confident. Being able to write "Iconic Citizen for Tipperary, writer" after my name gives me a boost! I've got the 'glass room' in the Arts Centre plus the kitchen beside it for tea and buns!
The Writing course will be on Thursday evenings at 8 pm. Anyone interested, phone or email me for more details.
My Creative Writing course starts in the Arts Centre on Sept 1st at 8 pm for six weeks. Michael Manning where are you? I lost your number.
Well I was all set to hold a creative writing course from my home, but I have been offered a room in the Arts Centre for Thursday evenings. They will let it for Sept/Oct, which will be a better choice for many of you. There is even a kitchen, so tea and biscuits, perhaps even buns(!) for all at half time. Enquiries and questions are welcome at any time.
I'm just home from a much needed holiday in France with my cousin/goddaughter Alice Bouilliez and her husband Dominique. When I've had a couple of days to recover, I must get back to writing and try to earn some of the compliments I've got lately. Thrilled to see Enda Griffin's highly flattering portrait hanging in Nenagh LIbrary.
