Lusk Athletic Club
There was a great turn out today for the Lusk Athletics Club Charity Fun Run. An incredible €725.52 was raised for our Dyslexia Workshop. It's an amazing amount and reflects the heartfelt generosity of the individuals in the athletics club and local community. I'm sure you'll all want to join me in sending a massive THANK YOU to Lusk AC for nominating us this year and to all the people who donated so generously.

Merry Christmas Everyone. Have a great day. Don't forget the Charity Fun Run in Lusk tomorrow at 11am (Lusk National School). All donations going to our Workshop, so spread the word. Walkers, joggers, runners, kids on bikes, babies in buggies - ALL WELCOME.
Message sent from DAI Head Office. This might be of interest to some children in our workshop. Children and young people aged 8-18 are needed to be interviewed for, and to illustrate, a new book on dyslexia. Author Margaret Rooke is looking to speak to children and young people (aged 8-18) about having dyslexia and what has made them feel better about being dyslexic. The interviews will be anonymous. Margaret would also like some of the contributors to draw illustrations for the book. The book will be published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers next year. If anyone would like more information, please contact Margaret at margaretrooke@btinternet.com. Margaret's last book 'Creative, Successful, Dyslexic' contained interviews with Darcey Bussell, Eddie Izzard, David Bailey and many other well-known personalities and looked at how dyslexia helped them to achieve. If anyone is interested, they can contact Margaret directly at margaretrooke@btinternet.com,
FUND RAISER ON ST STEPHEN'S DAY I’m delighted to announce that our dyslexia workshop has been chosen by Lusk Athletics Club as their charity focus this year. As some of you will know I am a coach/mentor at the local Lusk Athletics Club. Every year they run a charity event on St Stephen's day (around the ring road), to raise money for a local charity and encourage the whole community to get out and exercise. They have asked that we have as many of our members at the event as possible. You don’t need to be a runner. It’s a family event for all ages - you can walk, jog or run, children come on bikes, others push buggies. It’s simply to get families out and stretch their legs. It would be great to see lots of our workshop members there. Meet at 11am at the Lusk National School. No sponsorship required, just donations on the day. Please like and share - spread the word and put it on your calendars.
Workshop Newsletter November 2016 I can’t believe that we are at the end of term one already. The children have settled into a great routine at the workshop and the atmosphere is positive and full of energy. A big well done to all the students, tutors and parents for all their hard work. Thank you to all the parents who are volunteering in the workshop, your contribution is an essential ingredient to making our workshop a special place. And a very special thank you to Karla and Michael who have been busy working behind the scenes to keep the workshop administration and finances on track to ensure a smooth transition into the new DAI system next term. END OF TERM PLANS FOR THIS WEDNESDAY Traditionally we change things up for the last workshop and celebrate Christmas. It’s a bit early for Christmas, but we want to go ahead and celebrate the end of a great first term. Instead of the usual break time we will organise a party table and we’ve asked the children to bring in a LITTLE treat to share. We have also asked the children to think about their strengths/talents and hobbies so they can take part in a showcase. It’s a ‘show and tell’ style event. The children can come in and perform if they choose or bring in a photo, medal/certificate or artifact. It would be great if you could talk to them about what they might like to share on the night. We are hoping to start the second term in January. Once the new DAI restructuring has been finalised we will be able to send out an exact date. It’s always great to get the workshop up and running again and a privilege to see the children growing in confidence. See you all on Wednesday, then enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the New Year. Frankie
