Hey everyone As some of you may know on the 29th of March an intervarsity poetry slam is taking place in Dublin and it would be fantastic to have two people represent Mary I in the competition To help us decide who are our representatives we're holding a small poetry slam on Tuesday 6pm in t106. We encourage everyone to take part as it's a brilliant opportunity The rules are as follows - All poems must be from memory. No pages or notes allowed on stage. - Poems can be on any subject and in any style. - Poems must be the original work of the performing poet - No props, costumes, musical instruments or backing tracks allowed. TIMING - Performances are timed and should not exceed 3 minutes. Timing starts when the performance or sound begins. There is no lower limit on time. The Three-Minute Rule: The time begins when the performance begins, which may well be before the first utterance is made. Poets with ambiguous beginnings & endings to their performances should seek out the timekeeper at each venue to settle on a starting & ending time. Because this on short notice the rules will not be as strictly enforced as they normally would Look forward to seeing you all there
