Wild Physio
Description
Physiotherapy, Pilates, Dry Needling, Mindfulness Movement, all in the dynamic environment of Actons studio & gym Kinsale Hi, my name is Karen Mason, the founder of PhysioFit and and WildPhysio.ie. Based in Kinsale, I’m a Chartered Physiotherapist, Bio-mechanical and Postural assessment expert, Clinical Pilates instructor and Somatic movement educator. I’m also a businesswoman, a wife and a full-time mother of three. I’m not sure which is the most work.
I have over a decade’s experience with pelvic floor and lower back troubles. In that time I’ve repeatedly witnessed amazing improvements in the strength, posture, movement and well being of women who have made the connection between mind and body.
I love helping women lead healthy, energetic and passionate lives through a unique blend of Pilates, Mindfulness Movement and Physiotherapy.

As a fair weather barefoot runner I get asked a lot what I think of them. As a physio, I’m sold, there has been a shift in thinking in the last 10 Years. The physiological thinking has reversed from passive support (trainers) to active support (your feet). Coinciding with this increased interest in barefoot running, minimalist running shoes emerged from industry’s need to satisfy the desire for a product that replicates the barefoot condition, as a result of rising public interest in this phenomenon. Thus, minimalist shoes are marketed as providing all the gait-related benefits of running barefoot, while also alleviating the hazard and discomfort experienced when running on hard surfaces. Beginner Pilates info & advise : Pilates is a form of strength and flexibility training that can be done by someone at any level of fitness. Karen adapts each exercise for peoples individual ability. Pelvic floor strength is an engaging exercise program that people want to do. Pilates promotes a feeling of physical and mental well-being and also develops inner physical awareness. Since this method strengthens and lengthens the muscles without creating bulk, it is compliments any other form of exercise by strengthening core, inevitably preventing and rehabilitating from injuries, improving posture, and increasing flexibility, circulation, and balance. Wild Physio encourages post natal women to return to Pilates as soon as 6 weeks after birth to develop body alignment, improve concentration, and develop body shape and tone after pregnancy . For the complete beginner a Physio pilates one to one is always recommended. During the initial meeting, Karen will analyze the client's posture, movement, ability and strength and design a specific training program. Once the program has been created, the sessions usually follow a basic pattern. A session generally begins with mat work and active stretching. The client preforms the exercises while the physiotherapist watches their form and breathing. These exercises are then progressed until. You are class ready and able to happily join a faster paced class.
