A great morning was had in the cottage on St. Patrick's day last week by this Australian group who described their experience as exactly what they imagined traditional Irish culture to be - uileann pipes, flute, whistle and bodhrán with a historic tour and a scrumptuous spread, book yours now! Having been in hibernation during January's dark wet evenings, Katie's is now launching into a fabulous year of entertainment, heritage, culture, fun & festivities. We are feeling the spring energy arriving with the start of Aneta Dortova Dance traditional Irish Sean-nós dance classes this Friday. Please check out her classes - they are fantastic!! And, of course we have our regular, seriously popular storytellers, @mothandbutterflystories, back in action on 21st February, as well as some amazing events coming up. In addition to collaborating with Galway Bay Boat Tours and Galway Food Tours on some fantastic tour experiences, we are also proudly working with Mise Éire The Show (keep any eye out for some surprises there), and we have a great line up of exciting theatre productions, wedding celebrations, & filming going on, all in the Claddagh... 😊😊😊 We also hope that the Claddagh's very own *** now famous BackWest (check out their fab CD) *** will pop in and play some of our favourite tunes:) So, don't think that just because our lovely red doors are closed that we are not planning some AMAZING events this year for all of our local community, family, friends & overseas visitors! We are delighted to support our local Claddagh National School's 'little people's' book festival, by hosting Storyteller/Author Eddie Lenihan today at Katie's Claddagh Cottage. Eddie Lenihan is one of Ireland’s best-known and well-loved storytellers. For decades he has gathered folklore from around Ireland, keeping the ancient storytelling tradition of the seanchaí alive and entrancing both old and young alike with tales of the human, natural and other worlds. Eddie has published several books of Irish folklore and, in more recent years, found great success with his Tales of Mystery and Magic, a highly entertaining collection of original stories for children, featuring none other than Fionn Mac Cumhail and the warriors of Na Fianna. This wonderful school initiative is supported by Creative Ireland, in partnership with the local library service and bookshops. The festival will also feature a visit from the Book Doctor and a poetry slam for kids, amongst a range of other exciting and fun book-based activities and events.
