The Galway Clinic Physiotherapy Department, one of the most established physiotherapy centres in the west of Ireland, has been providing Radial Shockwave therapy treatments since January 2015. How can shockwave therapy relieve muscle and joint pain? The Shock waves are created by strong acoustic (sound) energy pulses. They are high peak pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism and blood flow to increase the oxygen delivery to the biological tissues. This has been shown to encourage tissue healing and reduce pain significantly. There is a mounting body of evidence supporting their specific use in the treatment of: - Tendon and Muscle Inflammation including the Achilles tendon (in the ankle), Patella tendon (in front of the knee), Rotator Cuff tendons (in the shoulder), Elbow tendons i.e. Tennis and Golfers elbow. - Plantar Fasciitis (inflammation of the ligament and small muscles in the sole of the foot) including Heel Spurs - Low Back and Neck Pain - Bursitis - Shin Splints Physiotherapy may be the solution for your painful problem. For further information contact the physiotherapy department on Tel: 091 78 5450 / 5457, or Email:physio@galwayclinic.com, www.galwayclinic.com
