This talk is geared for third level Engineering students and focuses on the four main types of Engineering employer: Engineering Consultancies, Contractors, Infrastructure bodies (e.g. ESB and Irish Water), and Manufacturing companies. The day-to-day tasks of Engineers in these firms are explained, as well as the likely career progression opportunities. I know when I was studying Mechanical Engineering in UCD, I certainly didn't understand the differences between these employers, and this overview should be highly beneficial for Engineering students to help them plan their career path.
