We have advanced to our 3rd Barton Cup final since 2008 by beating Killeen Golf Club this afternoon, hopefully we can go on now to make it 3 Barton Cup wins now. Martin Sludds & Shane Fortune and Nicky Murphy & Adam Jordan played some absolutely fantastic golf in Enniscorthy to secure 2 wins at home. Mention must be made of the incredible shot played from the fairway bunker on the 14th by Martin Sludds which set up a birdie chance which Shane Fortune converted. Killeen were up in all 3 games away approaching the turn but again some fantastic golf of the highest order turned the match in our favour. Having been 2 down earlier in the match Paul Lynch & Liam Sheridan secured the all important 3rd game on the 16th hole. Paul Conroy & Butch O'Connor were 3 up when called in and James & Frankie Morrissey had fought back to be only 1 down when they were called in. Ardee will be our opponents in the final with first leg scheduled to be played on Saturday 19th August in Ardee with home leg to come 2 weeks later. Congratulations to all players and to the wider panel and to management team of Murt Mangan, Jason Rackard & Paul Connolly. It has been an incredible weekend for Enniscorthy Golf Club with today's performance following straight after the great result secured yesterday by Provincial Towns team in 1st leg of their final. To reach 2 finals in one season is an achievement that everyone involved with the club teams, and indeed everyone in the club as a whole, should be very proud of. Now to go on and secure 2 wins in the respective finals.
All over, Paul Lynch & Liam Sheridan have just won first game in Killeen to secure our place in final against Ardee Golf Club, first leg due to be played in Arder on Saturday 19th August.
Update on Barton - we've won both games at home. All 3 games still in progress in Killeen.
