FMMT - Massage Therapy and Strength Training
Description
FMMT is all about improving how you look, feel and move through the use of massage and strength training. FMMT is for anyone looking for massage therapy or strength training in order to relieve pain, enhance recovery, rehabilitate for sports, improve sports performance, increase fitness or simply unwind and relax.
My services include sports massage, Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, functional movement screening, postural assessment and strength training.
As well as being a qualified massage therapist of IPTAS (and a continuing student of Physical Therapy) I hold a qualification in the Functional Movement Screen and am a Certified Strength Coach/Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Please see services offered to find out what I can do for you and don’t hesitate to message the page with any enquiries you may have, call me or e-mail me at fmernaghmt@gmail.com.

Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children and Youth
It's refreshing to see a country recognise and promote that #movement is not just based around going to the gym or running 10k. It should be a natural part of our everyday activities. Here is a handy summary of their guidelines for children ages 5-17 years*. Importantly, it factors in the necessary component of sleep too. *The same principles can be applied to adults too of course. ;)
How to move on from back pain
Too many clients have come to me saying they stopped doing 'x' because it hurt and then gave it up forever. This includes things they love like long walks and running. The key to rehabilitation is that you take a break from aggravating activities, heal and then learn to move again - not that you eliminate activities altogether! This article is a good example for what many people suffer from - low back pain - and explains how, in the end, movement is the real healer. http://www.independent.ie/life/health-wellbeing/how-to-move-on-from-back-pain-34998028.html

The guys asked for a sweaty session tonight to help burn some extra calories before putting them back on over the holidays. It went like this: Breathing, rolling, full body warmup (tougher than normal) as is standard each week. As inspired by Dan John: 10 swings 5 push-ups 10 swings 4 push-ups Etc to 1 push-up 4 minute break followed by: 30s of each exercise, no breaks in between, for 3 sets: Slideboard (lateral conditioning!) Skipping Inverted rows (the arms were burning) Another few minutes break before finishing on a high rep strength circuit, repeated 3 times: 12 x Swiss ball rollouts 15 x Goblet Squats 8/8 side pack with leg raises (really started to see technical errors in the last circuit, which is why this kind of a session is not the norm!) Merry Christmas! 😊
