Isaac Westbrooks NEEDS YOUR HELP!! Isaac has been nominated by the Fingal Independent as one of their sports persons of the year amongst some other great athletes, but he is the only basketball player nominated. This award is decided by a public vote that is done online and the link is at the bottom of this post. The award is for his participation with Swords Thunder basketball team and would be great to win and bring notoriety to the club as well as basketball in general. Please take a couple of minutes and GO AND VOTE!! Posted 04/12/2017 01:58PM Saoirse Power-Cassidy '17 signs with DI UMass Lowell. Post-graduate Saoirse Power-Cassidy of Dublin, Ireland, signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Division I UMass Lowell on a full scholarship. Prior to Marianapolis, Power-Cassidy played for the u18 Irish National Team. This past season, the point guard averaged 8 points per game, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and had a 44% shooting average from the 3-point range making her the leading 3-point scorer. Power-Cassidy has been playing basketball since she was six years old. It was always her dream to attend college and play basketball in the U.S. On choosing UMass Lowell, she said, “I decided to commit to UMass Lowell because they had my course of study and basketball-wise it's an up and coming team with a lot of potential. Under the coaching staff and alongside the players there I'm really looking forward to getting started next season and making a splash in the basketball universe.” She will be studying chemical engineering at UMass. UMass Lowell is a Division I school competing in the America East Conference, located in Lowell, Mass. Saoirse follows in the footsteps of former Holy Faith players Hannah Thornton and Leah Westbrooks who went on to play Division 1 basketball in America...more to follow! Well done Saoirse, your Holy Faith family are happy and proud of you.
