Our Harvest Thanksgiving takes place the weekend of 23rd /24th September. The Parish Liturgy Group, who organise the Harvest Thanksgiving, are inviting you to share your food with those who, for whatever reason, find themselves unable to provide their very basic needs. You are invited to bring what you can to the Masses that weekend. Food, fresh or tinned, can be placed in baskets in the sanctuary of the Churches and will be donated to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society and Penny Dinners Cork. By doing this we can really celebrate this year’s Harvest. Note from Penny Dinners : Winter is approaching fast. We at Penny Dinners are most appreciative of the food you sent us from the generosity of the fruits of your Harvest Thanksgiving Masses over the last few years. It means a lot to us and this year we would emphasise not to go to great expense. We would be very grateful for any of the following: The mainstay of dinner is still potatoes and gravy, a great favourite; tins of peas and beans; fresh veg, especially carrots, turnips, etc & potatoes; blocks of cheese and mayonnaise for sandwiches; packets of soup and dilute orange, eg Miwadi; bars of soap; tea, coffee and tins of gravy granules. Many thanks for always thinking of us. Mary Chambers (on behalf of all at Penny Dinners)
