Description
Douglas Community Preschool is located in Douglas Park & has been open since 1982. Available to children from 2 years & 9 months to 5 years old. This group caters for up to 30 pre-school children in the area. It has been going for 30 years, having been set up in 1982. It is a non-profit school, partially funded by the HSE and run by a committee of parents. In modern class rooms, using up-to-date equipment, children learn through play, with emphasis on interaction and social skills. There are 5 teachers employed at present ensuring a low pupil to teacher ratio. The preschool makes the most of being situated in the park with frequent nature walks and full use of the Community Centre Hall for physical games and activities. There are two classrooms, one for children 2 years and 9 months to 4 years (Playgroup); a second is a pre-school class for children from 4-5 years.
