Cape Clear Story Telling Festival 2016, big success, 2017 coming around soon(ish)
By @SimonCocking In the cold depths of winter it can seem like a life time ago, but once upon a time there was the 2016 Cape Clear story telling festival. It was another successful year for it, though some stayed away for fear of the slightly variable weather forecasts. This is always a mistake. For those of us who enjoy watching the weather 12 months a year on Cape we know that the weather is never going to be that bad, and if it were there would be text alerts from the ferry service to let you know about it. Some are a little stretched, bleached, but for something small in your pocket and waterproof it's not bad to have out with you. From Shenzhen to Cape Clear,on an overcast December day
By @SimonCocking we're currently trying out the Action Camera made by MGCOOL, who make sports cameras, intelligent wearable devices, and other gadgets. Made in Shenzhen and posted out to us in Cape Clear for us to review it. Here are our first pictures, on a wet, overcast winter's day. So far it seems straight forward to use, and pictures are ok, but need to keep making sure the lens has no rain drops on it. Blackrock, portrait of a Cork suburb 1916, reviewed

Events of the 1916 rebellion are touched upon, but at the same time it is very much an insight into how we lived 'way back then'. An Island Community, the ebb and flow of Great Blasket Island, reviewed
By @SimonCocking The islands of Ireland are very special places. Going to any of them, and spending time on them is a great, different experience. Living on one helps to have some insight into others. The Blaskets are one of those sets of Irish islands that loom strongly in the Irish mental hinterland. Many grumbled about the Irish texts they had to read while at school of tough, poetic, romantic, windswept lives on the Blaskets, Peig, Twenty Years a Growing and much more. Cape Clear Sunday walks resume
At the time to leave it was absolutely pouring down. Truly cats and dogs, then, thankfully a gap in the clouds appeared, and within 10 minutes the rain had passed and it was blue skies and pleasant for the rest of the walk.
