TDC Corcadorca
Description
A Development Centre for theatre at Triskel Arts Centre. The space can be made available to anyone making professional work.
Managed by Corcadorca. TDC is used for the development of professional theatre work through residencies, workshops, talks, masterclasses and more.
Any existing or emerging theatre practitioners/artists/makers resident in Cork and beyond are eligible to apply to use the space (for free). We will not discriminate between more and less established practitioners when deciding who may use the space.
How It Works:
The space will be let to groups/individuals on a weekly basis (Monday to Friday). You book in for a given week. At the end of the week, you and the people you are working with will be asked to give a short public showing of what you have been working on to other users of the TDC, the wider theatre community and the general public. This will be up for discussion and constructive criticism afterwards.
If you are interested in a residency at TDC fill out the online application

facebook.comCongratulations to No Kissin' Ensemble, officially on their way to Dublin Fringe Festival 2017 with SLSD. We're long-time supporters of this project and it would be great if they could get some support to ensure they deliver the best show ever in September! Here's how you can help them out:
Timmy Creed is in TDC this week, working on a creative collaboration with Gina Moxley (Director), Chris Somers (Sound) and David Mathúna (Visuals). ‘Spliced’ is a brand new multi-disciplinary performance that looks at the world of the GAA and the pressures surrounding it from Timmy's perspective, having been part of the GAA all his life. This is a one man show where the actor, the visual artist and the sound artist performs live, revealing both the private and public life of the player. This piece wants to celebrate the sport and what it has done for Timmy but also look at the darker side to this lifelong commitment and the core structures at the centre of the GAA. Come on over tomorrow, Friday, July 14th at 6pm to see a preveiw of the show and help them out with feedback.
Best wishes to ALSA Productions for their final show of Swim/Stroke at Clonmel Junction Festival tonight. In little more than 6 months, with little budget, buckets of talent and a myriad of Cork's best emerging creatives, they have managed to create a beautifully designed and considered piece of theatre. Well done Al, Sadhbh, Aoife, Laura, Arran Mac Gabhann and all other contributors. We look forward to seeing more from you soon!
Another week, another resident.. Colm o'Reilly and James Browne are working on a new piece of theatre of particular personal relevance for Colm. Come along on Friday at 6pm when they will present some scenes for us all. Here's a few words from Colm himself on the work: 'Me, Sinatra & Synchronicity' is an autobiographical tale of my 17 years in the people's republic. Ostensibly it tells the tale of how I became a Frank Sinatra tribute act completely by accident one night in Kinsale, but in reality, is an account of my battle with alcoholism, relapse, recovery and rehabilitation and features a parable on the availability of mental health care during the 'Celtic Tiger' and its virtual non existence a mere decade later. Humour is provided throughout, recalling incidents from my time as the gig barman in the Lobby Bar, as the early morning barman in ' Charlies' and, most notably, my years as a daycare assistant in Marymount Hospice. There is also an enduring love story and I get to perform my favourite Sinatra songs. As a first time writer/actor, I shall be strictly under the tutelage of my Director, acting coach and all round mentor James Browne.
This week in TDC Marion Wyatt is in residence working on her show Happy Days/On Albert Road (working titles) Set in Cork in the 1940’s, Happy Days / On Albert Road (working titles) is a charming story about young Michael Finbar Condon, who struggles to navigate the ups and downs of life, after the death of his Mam. All is not as it seems, behind the sparkling, white, lace curtains, and the polished front door of number 3, The Terrace. On Sunday nights Albert Road is alive with music and songs. The rest of the time, Michael's Auntie Lizzie sings a litany of his faults and she rarely repeats herself. She is joined by Judie Chalmers, Tess Healy Maguire, Fionula Linehan, Dominic Moore, Angela Newman, Marie O’Donovan, Amy O’Flynn and Michael Ryan. Join us this Friday, June 30th at 6pm for a rehearsed reading, followed by Q&A. All welcome!
There is still time to apply for this: worth €12,000, the application process is simple. Just submit a 45 minute play (reading time) to info@thelir.ie by end of June. See poster for details.
