Great, great fun, fun, fun with Gilbert's Lane Ukulele Group while Cobh Pastimes were doing a photo shoot with them in Walterstown. Cobh Pastimes Mobile Unit is still available while we prepare our new studio in Pearse Square. Great selection of themed costumes and accessories that fit ALL sizes. Ideal for that lull period during your wedding day when you want to keep your family and friends happy and having a giggle dressing up - most costumes go over your own clothes. We have a stand at the Wed Fest being held in the Commodore Hotel on 19th February..

As the Americans call it - "GARAGE SALE" coming up! I have moved to Pearse Square where Cobh Pastimes will be situated. Before I get the studio ready for opening I will be having a "garage" sale/ "yard" sale or anything you want to call it. I will be opening the doors in the next few days (watch this space!) so please come down and meander through the bric and brac of "times yore". I travelled to Burma (now known as Myanmar) quite a few times in the early eighties when my father was posted there with the I.L.O. Burma had major restrictions on foreigners in those days and most people travelling to Burma were only allowed 7 day visas. I was allowed in the country up to 3 months at a time which was extremely rare for your normal "tourist". Burma had many antiquities and craft work that you would not see anywhere else in the world. They produced beautiful lacquerware which was individual and unique to their country. The process of producing lacquerware(which has a lot of design, not necessarily the "plain" lacquerware produced by Japan, for instance) is very long and complex. "Modern" lacquerware in the 70's and early 80's (over 50 years ago when Deep Purple were waning!!) could have taken anything up to 9 months to produce one item! Although modern "Myanmar" lacquerware is still very beautiful ( I visited again in 2004) it has become more mass produced e.g. might take 2 weeks to produce an item!! I have some Burmese Lacquerware for sale in the "Garage" sale. Come in and have a look at the detail and craftmanship of these unique items. Every Burmese piece of lacquerware tells a story - even their smallest pieces. This is a coffee table and it tells a story.........
