Clones Community Forum 1916 Talk In the year of centenaries the Clones Community Forum continue with their series of talks and this month Monday May 30th Michael Mc Phillips secretary of Newtownbutler History Society will take a look at the 1916 rising and in particular a look how Clones and Monaghan 50 years ago remembered the 50th anniversary. On the night Michael will screen a film made 50 years ago in 1966 that captured the views of those who had come through the rising and their personal involvement in the week long rebellion. Members of the Irish volunteers, the Citizens Armey and Cumann na nBan speak openly of their memories. This film will be followed by the showing of rare colour pictures of the 50th Anniversary commemorations in Clones and Monaghan town held in April 1966 and the night will finish off with a film reel showing Monaghan towns commemoration. The night is open to everyone with an interest in local history and refreshments will be served admission €5.00 and takes place in the Courthouse Clones beginning at 7.30pm
