As this is the Year of the Family, Catholic Schools Week 2018 celebrated the importance of Family... our family at home, our Lasallian family and our Parish / Spiritual family. Our 1st years and TYs created the foyer display, while some of our 3rd years, TYs and 5th years represented SGC at the daily parish mass. On Friday, they met Fr Charlie who is a proud SGC past pupil! We were also represented at the annual Le Cheile Trust Conference. Many thanks to our School Chaplain, Fr Shane Sullivan for joining 6a1 and 6a4 for tea and a chat! The last aspect of our celebration was a visit to the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland today, to help and encourage a growing knowledge and understanding of members of our school family.

National Holocaust Memorial Day On Sunday 28th St. Gerald’s College was privileged to be selected as one of the four schools to attend the National Holocaust Memorial Day in the Mansion House, Dublin. Declan Mc Dermott, Louis Mac Monagle and Shane Kelly read from the ‘Scroll of Names’. The Scroll of Names is a list which names all of those that passed away during the Holocaust with an Irish connection . Class 3.5 also attended the memorial as part of their Junior Cert project for Religion. Congratulations to all three students who spoke with great skill and compassion on such a solemn occasion. Ms Rice would like to commend all students for the dignity and respect shown on such important night. Furthermore she would like to thank Ms Freely for her help on the day. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Tanaiste Simon Coveney were also in attendance. The students also had the honour of meeting Tomi Reichental and Suzi Diamond, both Holocaust survivors, picture below:
