The Fearless Girl which captured the hearts of millions across social media is moving location. The iconic statue which starred down the Charging Bull will be moving to an even more prominent home outside the New York Stock Exchange. The statue was erected to encourage companies to invest and increase gender diversity on boards. Since then the statue has become a catalyst for gender movements and is the face of the SSGA, which created the Gender Diversity Index in 2016. The Mayor of New York released the following statement, “We are proud to be home to the Fearless Girl. She is a powerful symbol of the need for change at the highest levels of corporate America—and she will become a durable part of our city’s civic life”. #FearlessGirl #NYSE

It has been a tough week for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. After the reveal of Cambridge Analytica’s deep mining of Facebook user’s data, Zuckerberg has been questioned before US Congress. During the hearing, Zuckerberg justified the accumulation of data for several reasons such as that the data was used to display more relatable ads to Facebook users, which they apparently prefer. He then went on to say that an ad-free version of Facebook could be possible but that it would require some sort of payment, which is against how Zuckerberg wants Facebook to develop. The first day rounded up nicely with Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, asking a question that summed up all the reasons why Zuckerberg was before Congress in the first place “Would you be comfortable sharing with us the name of the hotel you stayed in last night?”, to which Zuckerberg stated he would not. While people have credited Zuckerberg for being able to maintain composure during his few days of hearing, others have criticized him for refusing to answer some of Congress’ questions in a public setting, opting to discuss in private instead. Users have further voiced their concerns after the Ponemon Institute asked 3,000 Facebook users to agree or disagree with the statement “Facebook is committed to protecting the privacy of my personal information”. Before Zuckerberg’s testimony 79% of users agreed with the statement, post testimony, however, the number fell to below 30% of users agreeing with the statement. Facebook’s share price also fell dramatically after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, from $185.09 on the 16th of March to $152.22 on the 27th of March, a decrease of 18%. Unfortunately for Facebook it hasn’t recovered too well since its fall, only recovering to $164.83 per share, an increase of 8%. Do you think that this is the beginning of the end for Facebook or are you willing to give it another chance? Also, do you really care about the information Facebook collects about you? #Facebook #Mark #Zuckerberg #Marketing #UCD #MDP #Technology #Tech #Congress #Data #PersonalData #CambridgeAnalytica #Hacking

With Fulfil Nutrition currently selling their new flavour protein bar in their new pop-up shop at 13 Merrion Row all this week, we look at some of the more creative and interesting pop-up shops that have come up in Ireland in recent years. 1. The House of Peroni The House of Peroni Nastro Azzurro transported people from Dublin to an Italian haven with a breath-taking rooftop in the middle of Dame Lane. Serving authentic Italian food developed by Michelin star duo Luciano Tona and Ross Lewis as well as serving cocktails and drinks infused with Peroni and developed by their global brand ambassador Federico Riezzo. The house of Peroni has returned to Dublin on several occasions so fingers crossed it will come back soon! 2. Heinz Beans Café The Heinz Ireland Beans Café was an interesting experiment, focusing primarily on developing their social media exposure. Verve Marketing helped Heinz Beans celebrate their 50thbirthday by offering customers a free breakfast with the key ingredient being Heinz Beans. Instead of payment, people were asked to post a picture of their food with the hashtag #HeinzBeanz50. The event received phenomenal exposure through many media outlets online. 3. Tayto Crisp Sandwich Shop Few products can be labelled as quintessentially Irish as the Mr. Tayto crisp. As part of the Tayto ‘More than just a Crisp’ campaign, Mr. Tayto had a Pop-Up shop where he dished up his legendary crisp sandwiches in four different flavours, promoting his new prawn cocktail crisp. The shop was a phenomenal success and Mr. Tayto also donated €1 from each sandwich sold to Dublin’ Simon Community. #Fulfil #Tayto #Heinz #Peroni #BankOfFulfil #Marketing #MDP #UCD #POPUP

We had the privilege of speaking with former MDP alumni Chloe Twomey, about what she thought of the Marketing Development Programme and her experience with the MSc course: The Marketing Development Programme provided a great platform to begin my career in the FMCG sector. Prior to starting the MDP I was unsure what sector I wanted to work in. The Marketing Development Programme allows the opportunity to work on live marketing projects from various sectors. These projects vary in depth and scope from marketing strategy, branding, primary research or social media allowing advisors to expand their knowledge and expertise. The MDP is an extremely challenging course, but will stand to you in your career. After finishing the MDP in December 2017, I commenced my new role in branding in BFree Foods in January looking after the USA Market. My new role is extremely enjoyable, although quite challenging at times. My first challenge in January was to manage a new launch into Costco Midwest stores. On Monday, I had the fantastic opportunity to visit a few Costco Stores in Chicago and see the new loaf on shelf. A surreal experience, after spending 12 weeks working on this. The MDP prepared me extremely well for my new role, learning how to work well under pressure, dealing with different types of learning styles, leadership, time-management and public speaking.
