Wrecked!!! The Iorras U13s played host to Conn Rangers at Carne Nash on Friday evening and ended up on the wrong end of a 6-1 scoreline. The home side had just completed a marathon day of soccer as they had competed in the Fai primary 5 a side competition with their schools earlier that day and were are wrecked. 2 highlights from the evening was save of the season from keeper Kyle with a point blank unbelievable stop low to his right, and Cathal walker with an outrageous audacious chip over the keeper after being put through by Troy with a deft header, to give the home support something to cheer about. Happy holidays to Charlie and happy confirmation to Hayden for next week. Congrats to Geesala and Glencastle national schools who won yesterday’s 5 a side. Next up is an away trip to knock/Kiltimagh, we may have to do an overnight stay, so make sure they all get plenty rest and sleep during the next week and keep fortnite to a minimum..... Thanks to a very good Conn Rangers team and ref John and all our supporters. Panel: Kyle, Flynn, Charlie, Rory, Jack, Oisin, Josh C, James Q, Tommy Lee, James L, Josh R, Cathal W, Cathal G, Troy, Greg, Adam, Hayden. Some new recruits joined in for the photo!

Under 15 Under H2O. Torrential rain meant the first home game of the season kicked off in subaqua conditions with a 98km/hr wind blowing down the pitch. Ballyheane had the storm at their backs in the first half and soon took the lead. The Erris defence of Rhys Brett, Darren McDonnell, Martin Mullarkey, Ciaran Cawley and Keelan Murphy settled in and were able to spring Eoin Walsh for a breakaway goal. Ballyheane scored from a free kick to make it 1-2 at the break. Erris were ready to capitalise on the weather conditions in the second half. But. As soon as the ref blew for the second half, the sun came out, the wind dropped, the midges appeared and we had a ‘lovely evening now.’ Rian Concannon and Molly O’Connor both had chances to score but narrowly failed. Jack Deane did score but Eoin Walsh is claiming it. He has contacted Harry Kane’s people and is off to the dubious goals committee in the morning. Connor Barrett was a colossus in midfield as he protected the defence and set up attacks. Dylan Togher was a constant threat as Erris searched for a winner. The subs of Ben Shevlin, Sean Rowland and Lenny Gilbert all strengthened the team and special mention to Stephen Doherty making a fantastic debut performance. Unfortunately, the intense heat of the second half and the lack of sunblock meant no winner could be found. Final score us 2 them 2. Both teams were happy with a point but both felt they could have won it but both felt they could have lost it too. Last week Erris played their first game of the season and were unfortunate to lose to S&F as the two teams shared 6 goals between them. They got five of them. Thank you to all the supporters. Des.

Nobody loves Patrick Reed. The 100% record is gone as nobody had the winner of The Masters. Well done Sean who had Ricky Fowler and soars into an unassailable lead. Only 19 events to go but he can't be caught. Or can he? Coming up next is the World Snooker. Steve Davis and Ken Doherty are coming to the Civic Centre in June, will they have the World Title with them? Thank you to our sponsors Belbridge Structures and Platt Reilly. Rank. Grand Total. IORRAS UNLUCKY TO BOW OUT OF THE CUP Our Super League side have been knocked out of the Westaro Divisional Cup away to Straide and Foxford United on Saturday evening. Iorras got off to a bad start going behind after 10 minutes. However as the first half progressed, Iorras grew into the game, with the S&F goalkeeper getting down smartly to Dylan Walker’s fine effort. Iorras were applying all of the pressure at this point and got rewarded with a goal through the head of Brendan Nallen after Tom McAndrew delivered a free kick to the back post. Iorras were unlucky to be behind at half time after a deflected shot from the S& F centre back looped over Iorras goalkeeper Nathan Reilly, leaving him no chance. Iorras continued to apply pressure in the second half and had a few chances to force an equaliser. On 75 minutes S&F grabbed a third goal, a carbon copy of their second. Again a deflected shot looped over the goalkeeper and into the top corner. Iorras reduced the deficit on 85 minutes when a Tom McAndrew corner managed to cross the line, with the aid of a strong breeze. It was all Iorras for the closing stages, with Brendan Nallen finding the net only for the goal to be ruled out for a tight off side call. Final score Straide and Foxford 3 - 2 Iorras Aontaithe. Team: Nathan Reilly, Michael Meenaghan, Steven Nallen, Niall Geraghty, Aaron Carey, Tom Ivan, Tom McAndrew, Anthony Mills, Brendan Nallen, Ivan Barrett, Dylan Walker. Subs: Eamon Carey, David Reilly, Ryan Ruddy, Ryan Gaughan Next up is Castlebar Celtic on Sunday 22nd April.

U13s come second! The Iorras U13s made the long trip to Claremorris on Friday evening and came away on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline. The home side went in at halftime a goal up thanks to a huge deflection and this deflated the Iorras lads after a decent first half where James lavelle had the better of the chances. The second half started brightly with captain Troy getting on the end of a great ball from Josh Carey, only to be denied by a great save from the Claremorris keeper. The home side then doubled their lead and made it 3-0 soon after as Iorras started to show how long a journey they had made earlier. Well done to a good Claremorris team and we look forward to seeing them again later in the season. Team: Kyle Hefferon, Hayden Murphy, Flynn O Donnell, Charlie Ginnelly, Rory Ginty, Oisin Reilly, Josh Carey, James Quinn, Tommy Lee Healy, Cathal Walker, Josh Reilly, Greg Conroy, James Lavelle, Troy Gaughan. IORRAS REGRET MISSED SECOND HALF CHANCES #mfl18Iorras Aontaithe is still chasing their first points of the new season after they went down 1-4 at home to Manulla on Sunday 8th April. The visitors were in front on three minutes from a Lucas De Paula free from just outside the area but five minutes later Nathan Reilly levelled for Erris from a Tom Ivan free. But on 35 minutes Lucas De Paula had Manulla in front again with a nice finish from inside the area. It stayed 1-2 at the break. In the second half, Erris pushed for the equaliser but poor finishing let them down, Brendan Nallen on 59 minutes, Pete MacArthur on 59 minutes and Kyle O’Reilly on 60 minutes, but De Paula was just a whisker away from a hat-trick when his effort went wide of the post on 63 minutes. Manulla scored their third goal on 68 minutes when Chris Maughan found space on the edge of the box and Declan Tonra made it four for Manulla on 75 minutes. Erris are away to S.& F. Utd in the Westaro Cup on Saturday 15th April. TEAM- Shaun Noone, Nathan Reilly, Diarmuid Healy, Liam Donoghue, Micheal Meeneghan: Anthony Mills (Capt.), Tom McAndrew, Brendan Nallen, Pete MacArthur: Kyle O’Reilly, Tom Ivan. Subs Used in the second half- Aran Reilly for Tom McAndrew, Steven Cawley for Diarmuid Healy, Steven Nallen for Micheal Meeneghan, Edward Dean for Nathan Reilly, Aran Carey for Pete MacArthur.

Sports Genius 2018. Thank you for your entries to this year's Sports genius. We haven't room to print all the entrants here but here is a sample of the leaderboard. You should receive an email with the full leaderboard soon. Anyway. There was a suggestion that anybody who went for England in the 6 Nations should have points deducted seeing as they finished FIFTH. It was big Irish wins in our first two events as there were 17 Irish winners at Cheltenham. Could it be a big Irish win tonight too as Rory takes on Paddy Reed. Many of you have Mr McIlroy but one or two of you have Mr Reed. It's going to be super duperly exciting, and this is only our third event. Our sitting rooms, workplaces and pubs are full of men who claim they know it all about sport, but can I bring your attention to the amount of women who have maximum points so far. It is written in the constitution that if a lady scores more than her partner in this competition, she is entitled to cancel his Sky Sports subscription and get herself something nice with the extra cash. Take a closer look at those with maximum points and you will notice that one of them is a Grandmother to an Erris United Under 17, while another one of them is a dog. Lads, please, being beaten by a girl is one thing, but beaten by a King Charles!!!!
