Friends Of Bandon Community Hospital
Description
Friends of Bandon Community Hospital is the official fundraising body for the hospital. We are currently raising funds to build a Dayroom for residents. WELCOME TO THE FRIENDS OF BANDON COMMUNITY HOPSPITAL WEBSITE
Friends of Bandon Community Hospital is a regristered Charity and is the official fundraising body for the hospital. In the early 1990’s a group of dedicated volunteers came together to form the Friends. The objestive was to inspire and enable fundraising and financial support for the hospital. The response from the community has always been most gratifying. Through the generosity and kindness of the people of Bandon and surrounding catchment areas the Friends have, over the last 20 years, been able to provide funding for much needed projects to enhance patient care and comfort.
In September 2015 a company limited by guarantee was formed. It’s objective is to act as a conduit between the hospital and the community it serves through fundraising and by raising public awareness, thereby enhancing the quaility of life of residents of the hospital. In November 2015 planning permission was granted for a major expansion og the hospital (Phase 1) . This will involve a complete restructuring of existing accomodation and facilities. Phase 1 will ensure that Bandon Community Hospital remains firmly anchored in its roots -the people it serves.
We, the Friends, have undertaken the task of raising funds for the construction of a state of the art day room to be located at the front of the building where it will best serve the needs of the residents. The H.S.E is not providing funding for the construction of this facility. Therefore, the need for fundraising has never been as necessary as it is now. Community participation is essential to effectively achieve this aim. All monies raised by the Friends will go directly to building the day room.
