Indonesia celebrates its Independence Day on 17 August every year, when the national colors red and white will be splashed across the country. On the morning of August 17, many students and government officials join ceremonies to raise the red and white banner. After the flag raising, people usually gather for a little friendly neighborhood competition. The challenges include sack races and a kerupuk or cracker eating contest. One of the toughest – and most entertaining – is the palm tree climbing contest, a male-only event. The trunk of the tree is greased to make scaling it tough, but whoever gets to the top first gets dibs on prizes that range from t-shirts to bicycles. “The best place we've ever been - We stayed in this hotel for 6 days on our honeymoon. Everything was perfect in this hotel. The room was very clean and romantic, the bathtub was big and the views are spectacular with ricefields, ducks, rooster, herons, squirrels etc. The breakfast was amazing too. The very best thing, however, was the staff. They're so welcoming and heartful people, always making sure that everything was alright. We didn't really feel like customers, but more like family. They would help you with anything. They even prepared our room for honeymoon with towel swans and flowerbath. “Very friendly, quiet and authentic place. Great for honeymoon :) - We went to River Sakti for 3 nights of our honeymoon in Bali and Lombok. Although we were disappointed that it was raining in Ubud the staff made sure we had a wonderful time. First Mr. Sudiakarma took the effort to do a great local walk with us in the morning where we enjoyed great views and learned a lot about Bali’s culture. Then on the next day when we were a bit sad about the weather the Manager arranged a great day trip to Ubud’s surroundings for us. The breakfast (Take away was Perfect too, Thank you!!!) was great too, as well as the room (bed very comfortable), the View, the pool and the service & friendliness. We also loved the restaurant next door!
