Social Studies Trip grade 5 to the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne Grade 5 Social Studies students who were accompanied by Ms Lange, Mr Foy and Mr Urban, had a wonderful day out in Cologne last Friday. They visited the ethnological Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum and were lucky to see some fascinating and breath-taking exhibits of different world cultures. A particular highlight was the big Hindu shrine and the traditional Sioux tepee exhibit, which crossed over nicely with what the children have been reading about in their English class readers. There was even time for a burger and a Berliner before our students headed for the bus home. #isr_school #itscooltobegood

„Schule früher” - successful vernissage @ ISR More than 30 guests were transported to the past this week when Peter Soliman, exhibition initiator Inge Grosse and School Head of the Rhein-Kreis-Neuss Tillmann Lonnes inaugurated the vernissage "School: A Look at Schools in 20th c. German". For many years, Inge Grosse has been collecting leather folders, exercise books and books, rolling maps, compasses, film projectors and other objects from the school life of the 20th century. " I was allowed to take many things from my old school, the Pastor Jacobs School in Meerbusch. I also received a lot from friends and acquaintances" says the former teacher. In search of a suitable exhibition space, Grosse met Peter Soliman. "Three phone calls with him were enough," says the collector, "and the construction of the permanent exhibition in the ISR could start". Tillmann Lonnes is also pleased that the collection has found a new home and remembers his first days as an "I-Dötzchen" (first grader). The exhibition is accessible to the public and we look forward to many visitors. #istcooltobegood #exhibition #ISR_School #vernissage

DFB-Paule-Schnupper-Abzeichen @ ISR Dribble artists, short-pass aces and penalty kickers at ISR For the second time, we organized the "DFB-Paule-Schnupper-Abzeichen" on Friday, the 24th. Seventy girls and boys from ISR and neighbouring schools, dribbled, fitted and shot at the three stations in the ISR Sports Hall. No problem for the aspiring football talents, even though the station Elferkönig (penalty kickers) was a special challenge for some. The kids could win a badge in gold, silver or bronze. We’re very thankful for the support of PSV Neuss and their football coach, Markus Bartsch, and his team. A big thank you as well to "our" football dad Axel Lehnen! #isr_school #itscooltobegood PSV Neuss http://www.rp-online.de/nrw/staedte/rhein-kreis/sport/gold-fuer-die-fussball-talente-an-der-isr-aid-1.7226502

A Russian folk tale: “The Giant Turnip” Last week our SLO® Russian Culture Club staged a traditional Russian folk tale named “The Giant Turnip.” It was a lovely performance and our students had a lot of fun. Ms. Lyons, our school director, teachers, students and, of course, proud parents watched the performance that carried with it the strong message: together we can do everything. At the end the students sang a song exploring the theme that friendship is the key to solving most problems. We would like to thank our talented students who did a really great job and the SLO® Russian Culture Club who made this possible. You all did that really well! #isr_school #itscooltobegood

ISR U12 boys football match On Thursday 8th November, played against St George´s Cologne in what was a thoroughly entertaining game. Both sides putting in 100 percent effort to try and win the game. Despite controlling the majority of the game a few unlucky situations gifted St. Georges victory 5:4. ISR lead 1:0 at half time and then gifted two goals to the opposition. What impressed us the most was the spirit and character ISR showed after giving away three quick goals. They fought back well and played some of the best football in the match. It was a great performance especially considering some of our players were 2 years younger. It was a good loss and the players got a lot from the match. The team is already looking forward to the return leg at ISR. Well done Magnus, Eric, Zile, Kim, Gordey, Karim, Eito, Sergio, Lennox, Joh, Nikan and Nico! #Proud #Charactor #TeamISRU12football #isr_school #itscooltobegood
