Uxbridge Cat Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue. We are a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of abused, neglected and unwanted cats. These cats come from owners (people who can no longer care for their animal), shelters and other rescue groups.
The cats we rescue are usually homeless through no fault of their own. Generally, they are either surrendered to us directly by their previous owners or come to us through shelters which are happy for our help. They are given up or dumped for various reasons though with most of our cats it's rarely related to their temperament.
Once in our program the cats are placed in foster homes where they are assessed and provided with any needed medical attention. As with all animals, each cat is an individual and once we have a good idea of personality and needs we will search for a match for a new permanent home. To promote responsible pet ownership all rescue cats are placed either spayed/neutered. In the case of younger kittens, we ask for a commitment on the part of the new owner, to do this when age appropriate.
Like other rescue groups our work relies on the generosity of our volunteers and the public. We ask adopters for a standard adoption fee which helps fund our extensive vet costs however in the end we must still rely on fundraising and donations.

Hi! My name's Angel. I've waited a long time for a family. I did have a family at some point, but they decided to surrender me to the shelter. My daughter Sweet Pea and I spent many months in the shelter together. Until one day she was taken away from me, to what the shelter staff called a "forever home.” They told me someday I will have one of those. But 9 months have passed, and here I am. The shelter is nice; we have food, water, some toys and a bed to sleep in ... but this isn't where I want to be. Every night as the sun sets and the shelter grows dark, I lay my head down for the night and hope that maybe the next day will bring me a family. I’m a friendly 4 year old girl. I love people and other cats. I’m hoping for a stress-free home with loving grown-ups. I promise I will love you with all my heart, just give me a chance. If you can help me find a family, please contact Nicola: njreb.9705@yahoo.com / 416-989-7005 (Angel is at the Brock Township Animal Shelter in Cannington)
Darcy the rescue kitten
Go vote for Darcy in the Modern Cat Star Cat contest! Darcy has a chance to be featured in Modern Cat magazine until January 27. You can vote once a day, and one cat will be chosen as the Star Cat, but every cat entered has a chance for their picture to be in the magazine. It would be a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about cat rescue and for him to appear in the magazine. <3 http://moderncat.com/starcat/entry/darcy-rescue-kitten

***ADOPTED*** Tiger is ready to find his forever family <3 Tiger is a 5 month old male kitten that we helped rescue from a very neglectful situation near Port Perry. He and his cousin Ella were living outside with their siblings and parents until Rebekah and Nicola were able to take them in. Unfortunately their parents and siblings were killed by coyotes before we could get them to safety. The cats were left outside to fend for themselves, with very little food, water and warmth. Tiger has been doing very well in his foster home and is adjusting to life inside. He will make a wonderful companion and pet to a lucky family. Tiger is looking for an indoor home. He is neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. Contact Nicola of UCR for more info: njreb.9705@yahoo.com More pictures: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/34259934

Look who was at Pet Valu today... Spooky! Spooky was adopted by his foster family in October and has been helping their foster kitties become more brave and social. He made the trip to Pet Valu with Tiger, his family's current foster kitty, to help him feel less scared and nervous. He's much bigger now than he was when he was last in the store! Stay tuned for Tiger's story :)

Meet Lloyd! <3 Lloyd is a stray that was living on the streets in Uxbridge. A kind lady took him in, but no owners were located and Lloyd did not have a microchip. We think he is 5-8 years old and lived outside for quite a while. He got all cleaned up, and was deflead, dewormed and vaccinated. Nicola agreed to take him into the rescue, and Lloyd is now enjoying life at his foster home with Kim and her family. He loves other cats and adores people. He's a great companion pet and loves bed time the most, when he sleeps with his foster every night <3 Lloyd will be available for adoption very soon. If you may be interested in adopting Lloyd, you can email Nicola at: njreb.9705@yahoo.com

***ADOPTED*** <3 SYLVESTER is now available for adoption! <3 This sweet 18 month old boy is ready to find the family of his dreams. Sylvester is one of the many cats we have rescued from a hoarding situation at a house up north. We have been working hard to get the remaining cats out, as well as give them good quality food they need to thrive. Thankfully there are only a handful of cats at the house now, and they are all looking healthier and happier. Sylvester was rescued shortly after Christmas and has been doing amazing in foster care. He's a healthy weight now, his eyes are clear and bright, and he's a happy boy to be on the road to a life full of love. He's a kind and loving cat - he will make a wonderful and loyal companion. He has gorgeous marble tabby markings and big green eyes. A family will be lucky to add him to their family! <3 More pictures: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/34199172 If you are interested in adopting Sylvester, please contact Nicola of UCR: njreb.9705@yahoo.com

***Trinity has been ADOPTED!*** :( URGENT - PLEASE SHARE WIDELY :( Trinity is a senior cat in need of a new home. Trinity is 13 years old and will be stressed in a typical foster home or store situation. She is a quiet girl and will thrive in a calm loving home. She is low maintenance and a lovely companion. Trinity was rescued from Hamilton Animal Control about 5 years ago. She was adopted out shortly after, but the family had to move out of province. We found a good home for her with a senior lady, who unfortunately passed away at the end of last year. A friend of the lady agreed to take Trinity but is severely allergic to her. Trinity needs a loving home where she can live out her golden years in peace and happiness. She's good with other cats but needs a quiet home. She is spayed and declawed. She is a gorgeous calico with very striking markings. Please share this with your friends and family to help this sweet girl find a home! <3 You can email Nicola Ransom-Brown of UCR with any questions: njreb.9705@yahoo.com
