Meet 3 year old Gia! #THSAdoptableAnimal Gia is a meek little girl who is looking for someone who can help her get out of her shell. She will definitely be a shining star in her forever home if she is given the opportunity to warm up to her guardians and become more confident in new surroundings. Gia is deserving of someone who will give her the time to learn to trust, and who will go at her pace, and support her during good times and bad with appropriately timed affection and reward. If you are interested in Gia please visit the shelter or email adoptionk9@torontohumanesociety.com. Thank you, we hope to see you soon!

Looking to have your #canine companion #spayed or #neutered? The Toronto Humane Society's Spay/Neuter Services will be booking dog surgery appointments for February starting tomorrow morning at 8:30am until 6:00pm now open to the general public. Please note large breed spots are very limited as they were first offered to those receiving income supplementation so please consider booking an appointment with your local veterinarian if your dog is over 35lbs. Appointments can be booked by phone call only at 416-392-2273 (Option 2) and a 50% deposit is required to secure your appointment. Appointment spaces are limited, so once full please check our website for the next call-in date for March appointments. Please see our website for patient requirements and further information about our services prior to booking. These surgeries are being offered at our regular low rates which can be found on our website. http://www.torontohumanesociety.com/what-we-do/spay-neuter We would like to remind all potential clients that this is a very popular service and our phone lines often become overloaded. Should you have difficulty getting through please attempt calling back at a later time when you are able to hear the main greeting and have the option to press #2 for our spay/neuter services. Please note we do not respond to canine inquiry emails so please be patient while waiting to reach one of our representatives. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work our hardest to assist everyone.

Approximately 60 children at the Agath Israel Congregation in Toronto recently participated in a “good deeds” day at their school and made an assortment of beds for the animals in our shelter. The purpose of the project was to teach children about animals and that kindness towards animals is the cornerstone of learning about good behaviour. We can’t thank you enough for this kind gesture and making all of this wonderful beds for our furry friends. Pictured below is the children working on the beds and some of our furry friends enjoying their new gifts.

Blanche's Happy Tail! This sweet little six year old gal was adopted just before the holidays and it looks like she's already sharing lots of fun adventures with her new big 'brother'! Here's a little update from Blanche's guardian: Blanche enjoyed her first walk recently through the trails of High Park - she was wonderful with every dog we crossed paths with! This photo is from a hiking trip at Hilton Falls in Milton - while she wasn't interested in walking that day, she was in heaven riding along. More adventures in our future for sure. :) ~ Rachel

Did you know that… The Toronto Humane Society’s spay/neuter service offers further #feline #surgical and #vaccination #discounts to those receiving #income #supplementation from the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Ontario Works (OW), and or Guaranteed Income Supplementation (GIS)! All #cat #subsidized appointments are discounted 50% from the normal rates and includes #complimentary vaccinations should one’s animal require them. That means the pre-operative examination, surgery (spay or neuter) and anaesthetic monitoring from our experienced and registered medical staff, vaccinations, and post-operative pain medication are all included for the low fee of $35.00. In effort to increase the availability of #appointments for those who cannot afford to seek #sterilization services elsewhere, the Toronto Humane Society has recently implemented a new procedure for appointment requests which opens appointments initially for those receiving these accepted income supplements making it much easier to obtain an appointment when needed. Make sure to follow our #Facebook page for updates on appointment openings and when to call in! For more information on all our public veterinary services (how to book an appointment/ current availability/ additional services and associated fees) please visit our website at: http://www.torontohumanesociety.com/what-we-do/spay-neuter

We were honoured to meet a fantastic group of young animal welfare advocates this week! Clayton, Isabelle, Jamie, Isabella, Dylan, Robert, Kyla and Chris raised over $400 by Christmas caroling for the Toronto Humane Society on a cold and rainy night in December. They were accompanied by Santa and Brandon, who lead the kids with his guitar and great singing voice! This is the third year the group has raised money for THS through spreading Christmas cheer in their community! Awesome job! Thank you for your incredible kindness!

Look at that sweet face! This adorable bun is named Telly and he is ready to find his new forever home. Telly is social, outgoing and active. He will need plenty of exercise time and enrichment to keep his little mind sharp. Telly may also benefit from having a bonding partner in his new home, ideally a spayed female, close to his age. #rabbit #bun #rabbitsofinstagram #adoptdontshop

Happy one month to this little peanut!!! You think you're rescuing the dog, but the dog rescues you too. The life lessons have been plentiful with this one, for example, don't leave a floor mirror leaning against the wall without any support (RIP. mirror.. sorry @christinasucc) Or don't leave white leather chairs uncovered.. Or just don't buy white leather chairs at all (RIP chairs) We love you so much Brady, don't ever change. Thank you @bettinabogar for the incredible snap. #adoptdontshop #toronto #torontodog #dogsofinstagram #torontohumanesociety
