The inspiration for this foundation is the late artist Durdy Bayramov, an avid and passionate advocate of art education for underprivileged aspiring artists, especially children and youth. Bayramov loved teaching art and often bought art supplies for those students who could not afford to pay for them. The Foundation will aspire to continue and advance his lifelong efforts to bring the joy of making and experiencing art to people everywhere. A vital part of the Foundation’s Art Education Program will be The Bayramov Museum and Library, which contains many of the artist’s paintings and photographs, and a collection of prized art books.

Thank you to the Aga Khan Museum for generously providing tickets to a concert by noura mint seymali at the Small World Music Centre. Our President/CEO, Keya Bayramova, had a great time on Saturday and would highly recommend this event to others! In the snowy weather, when everybody was stuck at home, it was a nice outing for Keya and her son. They had a great time and learned a lot about traditional and modern Mauritanian music.

Cultural Heritage of Turkmenistan
Bayramov held deep respect for the cultural heritage of his home country, Turkmenistan. This sentiment was certainly reciprocated: for decades Bayramov has been considered one of the most beloved sons of his country. It was our honour to have William Bradford Smith, Ethnomusicologist, Asian Cultural History Program, Smithsonian Institution, present at the Bayramov Museum on the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan. His lecture specifically focused on Turkmen music and instruments. Mr. Smith has visited Turkmenistan multiple times on research trips and has a special interest in this region's musical traditions.
