We are elected Fur Managers who promote the conservation and propagation of Canadian fur bearers, and other Natural Resources. We aim to host social gatherings to educate the general public of the tradition and necessity of trapping. The Council also provides opportunity for education in humane and productive trapping techniques to all its members. The Council also acts as a liaison between trappers and any legislative bodies.

Evening all. The Scout group is have a weekend camp out at Camp Mitchell June 9th to 11th. They where wondering if we could spend half a day teaching them about trapping and/or how we find animals, set traps, where the best place to set...etc. However there has been a request that we do not skin animals. They have requested June 10th in the morning for the education. I am not available that day. If anyone is interested...please email me by the end of this week. Thanks Rob

As the face of the trapping community in the Sioux Lookout Area, we want to make sure that our members and other trappers are trapping legally and humanely. Ontario Fur Managers Federation has reminded us that ALL trappers, (Aboriginal included) looking to sell fur are required to: 1. Complete mandatory trapper education on humane trapping methods 2. Maintain a trapping license 3. Use humane trapping methods by using certified traps approved by AIHTS. In the past, MNR has charged Aboriginal trappers who use traditional traps to harvest pelts for the pupose of selling. A link to the AIHTS agreement can be found at: http://fur.ca/fur-trapping/humane-trapping-standards-and-animal-welfare/
