Immediately recognized for his charismatic personality, seamless mixes and intelligent track selection, people were consistently being thrown into a frenzy once he stepped behind the decks. Having a penchant for the latest, greatest, and most jaw dropping bass lines being put out, along with a flavor that was recognizable from outside on the street, Tyler quickly became a fan favorite in the 403 DNB scene. For this reason, it is appropriate that he is a founding father and co-owner of the 403DNB Crew. Having played in the city for more than a decade, he has seen the genre through its rise and fall, and has been a major part of its revival in popularity in recent years. Not the type to splinter Drum and Bass into sub genres, (but he can, so don't get him started) Tyler loves and plays it all, making him an ideal candidate to rock any dancefloor he is placed in front of. Obscene is a mainstay in the YYC when it comes to rocking a show. As a true bass addict, his wish is to keep the dnb ball rolling and to progress its momentum furthermore. Tyler's pursuits began simply as a DJ, but over the years has grown to include talent purchasing and creative director duties for his 403DNB brand. As of 2016 he has been a main contributing organizer for Canada's only Drum and Bass festival (403DNBBQ / Metropolis) which has just wrapped up its 4th consecutive year. That being said, its no wonder he is one of only a handful of Canadian dj's to have ever been invited to "Innovation in the Sun", one of the worlds elite dnb festivals in Spain. With the outstanding reputation that Calgary drum and bass has procured, Obscene will likely find himself traveling and continuing to spread the good word and vibe of his thriving bass scene. Tyler is truly among an elite group of Canadian drum and bass dj's; having been a staple performer at all Calgary editions of Hospitality, Ram Records and Critical Sound tours and has shared the stage with the likes of Andy C, Noisia, Pendulum, Subfocus, Netsky and Camo & Krooked along with a myriad of other AAA, world renowned artists. There is no end in sight for acts that are yet to come, and his pursuit to see Calgary become the dnb capital of Canada, if not North America. It is that dream that will help to create and sustain, easily the most flourishing bass community, that in turn, will give more than one generation of bass addicts the pleasure of being a part of.

Quickly stepping into the spotlight back in Calgary, he was soon recognized to be a serious up and comer. Dave Larose joined the ranks of the power local promotion company “The Supreme Hustle” Larose had his talents utilized to play alongside industry pioneers such as Camo & Krooked, Tantrum Desire, Matrix & Futurebound, TC and Fred V & Grafix just to name a few. Larose has had success with releases on Ultragore Records, 403 Records and is currently working with Supreme Hustle Recordings for future releases. Whether its’ behind the decks or in the crowd Larose’s passions for his craft puts a wicked smile on his face. Now looking towards bigger stages and a wider horizon to explore his creative self, Larose is set to smash dance floors across the nation as he evolves his production game and captures the masses with his sound.

The latest artist spotlight and mix comes from Calgary based DJ. The Guru As head honcho of the Come Correct collective, he is always busy making moves to further the momentum jungle and drum & bass has gained in Alberta! Guru is a true music connoisseur, a trait that always comes through in his diverse live sets and studio mixes! Starting at the age of twelve as a percussionist and drummer in a garage band Chris fell in love with performing and making music, and as such a monster would be created. For years Chris performed as a drummer always working hard on finding new and interesting sounds, until at the ripe age of sixteen when he attended his first “rave” and everything changed. Enchanted by the sounds and the feeling in the air at the events The Self Cleaning Guru was brewing and within two days he began digging through crates trying to understand the world of the DJ. Starting with Hardcore techno/Acid Techno he grew a taste for the hard and dark. Along with his DJ partner at the time he was exposed to House, Progressive, experimental, trip hop and finally Jungle. Moving through all the styles and trying to find his niche for the past sixteen years has been the true trial for this Guru. However, as all Guru’s will, he has found his path and it rests in the roots of Reggae and all things Jungle/DNB. It wasn’t until 2013, three years after the passing of Gangstarr’s Guru, a man Chris had the utmost of respect for that his name was officially changed and shortened to The Guru. Currently the President of the Come Correct Sound Crew, based in Calgary, Alberta, The Guru has been working hard on revitalising the ripping Amen breaks and thick basslines of true Jungle. As well as digging through crates on the regular in search of rare roots Reggae and Dancehall, which he performs every Saturday at the best kept secret in Calgary; Unity Sound Saturdays alongside the whole Come Correct Crew. The Guru is also a regular at the long running Dub at the Pub, a club night that has been running as long as he has been Dj’ing. Now working closely with Habitat Living Sound in his home town of Calgary Chris has been given the opportunity to push the sounds of liquid with the popular FLOW nights and Jungle with Re:Session nights. From releasing tunes of his own, owning and operating a record label, DJ’ing, helping to run a clothing label, being a major hand in three music festivals and playing every chance he gets the future is brighter than ever for this rising star of the Jungle/DNB sounds. With a stage presence and effervescence like few others, accompanied by the knowledge of a true veteran Junglist a Guru performance is truly like none other.

Some absolutely killer mixes from the likes of Sistym, DjDreadnought and Kismet (Stirling Donnelly) have already been released.....Best part is, we are nowhere near done! Stay tuned and keep your eyes on this page!

He is a mainstay in Calgary's flourishing drum and bass scene due to his diverse selections and technical style! In those thriving beds of cutting edge artistic expression, the old school of DJing and turntablism was the key, the foundation upon which the music was built. Early influences from hardcore and gabber shows blended together with deep wax cuts of old school hip hop MCs crushing rhymes on relentless drum’n’bass beats. As that sound blossomed for Kismet, a.k.a. Stirling Donnelly, Calgary’s drum’n’bass and jungle scene embraced him. In 2011, he broke onto the scene with 403DNB, a fledgling crew of junglists destined to push that skittering, signature sound as far into the Western Canadian underground dance scene as it could. With 403DNB, Kismet shared stages with some of the sound’s finest - Spectrasoul, A-sides, Icicle and Dub Phizix helped shape his sound. Motion Notion, Fozzy Fest and Calgary Electronic Music Festival took that sound further into the scene, until in 2015 Kismet took the coveted title spot at the Dirty Tones Entertainment DJ Competition. As 2016 rolls in, the jazz-flecked liquid tones find balance with sparse and minimal soundscapes, and the techy future bass sounds meet the roots and traditions of drum’n’bass. Between his solo sets and his tag team work as one half of Carbon Copy, Kismet will find every opportunity to keep dance floors thriving from Calgary to wherever his road may take him.
