Good Afternoon... Storm Watch Update for Ottawa: Below please see our weather services forecast for tonight. We are monitoring it of course, and will be out throughout the night. The main issue we believe will be between 6 am and 9 am tomorrow and clearing lots fast enough given the storm will be in full force in the early morning and will be changing over to freezing rain. Our plows and sidewalk crews will be on the road between midnight and 1 am to get ahead of this as much as possible. As always, use our 24 hour answering service at our office number, or email your Account Manager any time if you have any issues we need to be aware of. Thank you very much. The Clintar Team. Begin Forecast... Tonight We're still on track for a strong blast of snow to hit the city around midnight tonight. We're anticipating snow will start up around midnight and run through to around 9am. Accumulation rates are looking to be in the ~1cm per hour range. A few data sets are showing that could even be ~1.5cm per hour. Some short hand math suggests that somewhere in the range of 8cm is possible, 12cm on the high end. The precipitation won't end at 9am, but instead transition over to freezing rain as we jump above the freezing mark. We can expect an hour or two of freezing rain (accumulating 1-2mm) before another transition to plain rain, as the temperature continues it's journey to an unseasonably high of 8° by 4pm. The rain is expected to continue until the late afternoon (thinking 3-5pm). A few light drizzle events may occur through the late afternoon and early evening. We'll add a good 4-8mm into the rain bucket through the day. Everything should be cleared out of town by the early evening (6pm). We'll then have a precipitation free evening on hand. Temperatures will stay a few degrees above freezing until about 3am Thursday morning. www.clintar.com Ph. 613-828-4000
