Based in Ottawa, Shoebox is surrounded by some of Canada’s largest and most diverse museum collections.
Founder Sam Hopkins has strong roots in the heritage field having worked closely with archaeologists, conservators, and museum professionals in Canada and Europe. He has combined his passion for material culture and digital design to help institutions create more effective interpretations of their archival material.
The deterioration of photographs and documents is inevitable and, in most cases, irreversible. Digital restoration can fill areas of loss, erase scratches and folds, and bring back colour damaged by UV exposure.
