Living Forest Oceanside Campground & RV Park
Description
We LOVE Vancouver Island and want to share it with you! Welcome to the Island! There are amazing things to see and do in every direction and we hope you'll share part of your camping adventures with us. Here's a bit about our park. It's family run, and for families!
Our promise is to give you a place to find honest local information about things to see and do all over the Island, through photos, stories, maps, videos and answer your questions. We camp too and we're all in this together! We think our award winning park stands on it's own, so you won't get a 'sell job' here. Our goal is to provide you with the kind of information we look for when we're traveling and camping- just ask and we'll try to help. I'm a real person and do my best to make this a fun place to visit -- our park AND our Facebook page! - Scott of the Forest
Living Forest Oceanside Campground & RV Park is 53 natural acres of ocean, forest and river that make up this year round park. It has 300 gorgeous sites.
Our extensive site menu includes 50 amp, pull thrus, oceanside, oceanview, forested, riverside, full service, partial service or no services, 'nose in first' sites for motorhomes to take advantage of the view, wi-fi, sunny or shady sites, even blue, green or yellow sites --- OK, OK -- we can't do colours!
But you get the idea-- this is a big beautiful property with lots to do- miles of walking on our paved roads or quiet trails, bicycling, paddling, swimming in the amazing Nanaimo River, birding, basketball, bocce, games room, beach volleyball, or just enjoy a gourmet coffee or ice cream from an outdoor table with a view at the Living Forest Cafe'. We offer truly incredible camping, naturally!
If you're a tent camper, or have a small RV like a truck and camper, tent trailer, or van conversion, we have a whole section of the park set up just for you- many with water and electricity.

facebook.comWhat's better than 6 nights camping at Living Forest? Getting another night free! It's Friday night of a long weekend and our check-in staff have a stack of new FREQUENT CAMPER CARDS ready at the front desk. If you have one, get it stamped when you check in. Staffer Lexie O'Keefe took this shot of the waiting stack of cards and our park maps. If you don't, ask for one. Whenever you've stayed 6 nights altogether (doesn't have to be all at once), the next night you stay with us between Sept. 16 and June 15 is free. Pick one up and make sure to leave it in your RV or with your camping gear, so you do don't forget it or lose it. Happy BC Day long weekend everybody! #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
I'd hate to be in competition with this team of plum vendors! Business is good for them. There's a fourth generation family member on this team of mini merchants and her great grandpa, who founded Living Forest, would be proud. #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
Living Forest staffer Lydia Harley found the perfect way to beat the heat with a gentle paddle along the shoreline at the park. Bring your own or rent one of ours when you camp with us and find your own happy place. It's the perfect place to glide along the shoreline- you may even want to roll over the side and float awhile like an otter yourself! #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
I guess we're all smokers right now. Here's a salute to all of the people working on the fire lines and the support workers. I can't really imagine what that's like. I also can't believe how many smokers I still see here driving and tapping their ashes out of moving car windows! Even saw a motorcyclist leaving the campground yesterday with a lit butt in his mouth riding along! If you see this irresponsible behaviour, please remind people to use their ashtrays. We're all in this together, am I right?
Happy hump day! All downhill to the weekend now. #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
Yesterday, nearly 60 gorgeous canoes filled with paddlers from around the Island and Pacific Northwest powered their way straight through the wind and waves, heading north through Nanaimo, along with their escort boats. All ages, and men and women from First Nations everywhere, all taking part in the 2017 Tribal Visions paddle from the Victoria area Saanich to Campbell River. It was a beautiful sight. And each evening there is a shore welcome and meal and dancing and singing and fellowship, exemplifying the best of the Coastal First Nations' culture. Paddle on! #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
Caption or explain this for me!?!? First time I've seen 'formation' tenting on a campsite in the park. Photo by LFC staffer Dave Harvey. #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
A bone washed up on our intertidal beach and was found by our grounds team leader, Bob Wilson. Who knows what it is? I sure don't! Being located where the mighty Nanaimo River kisses the ocean for the first time is a very special place. And it's home or a pathway for many many species of aquatic creatures, both large and small. Did you know that River estuary mud contains more lifeforms per cubic meter than just about anywhere else on this Blue planet we call home?!?! And you thought it was just mud...😀 #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
Is there a more beautiful place to walk along the ocean than Nanaimo's Harbourfront Walkway? Minutes from Living Forest. #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
Be careful out there, there's always someone watching- even if you don't see them! Great shot by Living Forest camper, Sue Higgins. #explorenanaimo #makeislandmemories
The Living Forest Café, where all profits go to charities, has been serving a lot of ice cream with this weather, so a new load of sweet goodness in all your favourite flavours is being delivered! And next week the forecast is for temperatures into the 30s!?!? Have you tried a Nanaimo Bar milkshake yet? Oh my--- get 'er in ya! Staffer Erin Garneau photo #makeislandmemories #explorenanaimo
