March 2nd marks the 10 year anniversary of local Edmonton soldier Michael Hayakaze's death while serving with C Squadron, LdSH(RC) as a Leopard 2 tank driver in Afghanistan in 2008. This anniversary is close to some of our staff here at Higher Grounds, as our our Assistant Manager's husband was serving with Michael when he was killed. Visit us for coffee and lunch on Friday, March 2nd between 8-4 and all tips received this day will be used to gift the Hayakaze family in Michael's name, so that they know we have not forgotten their son/brother's sacrifice. Starting March 7th, Higher Grounds will be open until 8pm EVERY WEDNESDAY! We will have coffee on, and we will have board games and puzzles out! Check out our games for families, couples and friends, or bring your own, and join us! A great chance to hang out before or after dinner with family or friends, or for a unique date night! Our monthly Cribbage Tourament is coming up! Doors open at 6pm with play starting at 7pm. Teams of two can register by phoning Higher Grounds at 780-266-5282 or dropping in to sign up. Registration is $5 a person/$10 a team. We need a minimum of 8 teams to run and the cut off is 16 teams so be sure to register!

This spring break, Dads and their little ones are invited to Higher Grounds for a chance to hang out with your kids and meet other dads in the community!

Two of our customer favourites just arrived in the shop, homemade chicken noodle soup and hot date squares! We also have chicken ceaser wraps and hot turkey and cranberry sandwiches. These always go fast so come in out of the blowing snow and join us for lunch!
