For many food banks, resources start to dwindle once the Christmas season comes to an end as demand for food increases and donations drop sharply. With PEI having such a seasonal workforce, the winter months can be especially tough. Such is the case for the Montague Food Bank. Destiny Best, local volunteer, wanted to do something about it. Inspired by Todd MacLean's annual Food & Warmth show in Charlottetown, Destiny approached us with a similar idea. To help out, we'll be hosting the food bank's first fundraising event of 2018. 'Share the Love: Food Bank Fundraiser' will take place on Saturday, February 24th for a night of live music, food, and (fun)draising activities. Things kick off at 6PM starting with a silent auction and 50/50 draw that continues throughout the night, with food being provided by Chef Darren Dingwell. Live music begins at 7:00PM with a slew of talented artists who have graciously offered up their time to support the cause: Full Lineup can be found below! - Liam Corcoran - Amanda Jackson Band - Johnny Ross of The Ross Family - Anya Smith - Katie McGarry Admission is a suggested donation of $10 with a non-perishable food item, with all proceeds going towards the Montague Food Bank. Share the Love!

We've noticed that libraries have been really lacking in the beer department lately. After scouring the Dewey Decimal System for what seems like hours to find the perfect book, often times you just want to sink your teeth into a cold pint while you flip through the pages of your latest novel. That's why we've teamed up with the Montague Rotary Library for our very first POP-UP Library. Yep. Just you, your book, and your beer. No distractions in sight. Librarians will be on-site with a stack of books and loads of recommendations to help you satisfy your inner book-worm, and will be offering library cards to anyone who wishes to take a book home with them. Time to get that book club together.

Crib is a bit of a pastime here on PEI. Whether it was at a visit to grandpa's, during a winter Nor’easter, or just another Saturday night, chances are you've played a few games of cribbage over the years here on the island. Copper Bottom & Birdmouse are thrilled to present Montague's 1st Annual Cribbage Tournament on Thursday, February 22nd at Copper Bottom Brewing. Not only does Birdmouse create some of the coolest, quirkiest art pieces around, they also create some of the best looking cribbage boards we've ever laid our eyes on. These beauts are handmade from reclaimed pipe-organ, and are crafted right in St. Georges, PEI. Bring your best doubles partner to the brewery for your chance to win the grand prize: TWO one-of-a-kind, handmade crib boards courtesy of Birdmouse & two $25 gift certificates from Copper Bottom Brewing. Sign up in the taproom or give us a call at 902-361-BEER (2337) to claim your spot in advance! Registration is $10 per team. All skill levels are welcome to participate. In addition to the crib tournament, Lenny & Heather will also be showcasing a few art pieces to promote their upcoming solo exhibit due to be complete this March. Woo!

In association with Small Halls Inc. and Foleymore Entertainment, Copper Bottom Brewing is proud to announce that Matthew Byrne & Sherman Downey will be performing at the brewery March 8th, 2018, for a cozy evening of storytelling and song. Matthew Byrne and Sherman Downey Music - great friends and fans of each others work - first teamed up in 2015 for a run of small, intimate shows around Newfoundland during the off-season. Now in its fourth year running, the Winter Island Tour will be brought to audiences across Prince Edward Island for the first time thanks to PEI Festival of Small Halls. The duo approach folk music from different angles - Byrne a traditional singer and interpreter of older material and Downey a contemporary singer-songwriter. The collaboration blends their styles and repertoires in a way that audiences have really come to love. Just as important, though, is the storytelling. Both artists are masterful storytellers with a dynamic stage chemistry and a live show that demonstrates how traditional and modern worlds of folk music can merge seamlessly. Doors open at 7PM. Show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $23 For tickets, go to www.winterislandtour.com
