Pastors Tyler and Deb served as youth ministers, but in the year 2000 took their family on an adventure to teach at Light for Africa Bible School for five months in Durban, South Africa. In 2003 the Couplands felt a call to begin a new Spirit-filled work in Meadow Lake under Apostle Terry. Since then, The Bridge has been helping people find their place in the Kingdom of God.
