When Darren Merritt retired in
March of this year it only lasted a short
while. Wanting to keep busy he decided
to start his own business selling
fishing/leisure boat packages, marine
supplies, canoes and anything else that
will help people get out on the water.
“I was not prepared to retire,” says
Merritt. “I served my country for 20
years, and I was proud of what I did.
I enjoyed being in the marine industry
selling boats to families. Seeing their
faces when they picked up their new
boating package was priceless.”
So, on Saturday and Sunday, Aug.
1-2, Merritt is holding a customer appreciation
weekend celebrating the
opening of his new venture, DM Boat
Sales Inc., located just north of Highway
401, at 2053 Highway 38. He
shares the building with Quinte Canvas
(Top Shop) Inc.
Born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Merritt
the youngest of four siblings joined
the military at 18 and excelled in the
communications field, which included
numerous deployments overseas. He is
married, with two children, and settled
in the Kingston area after leaving the
service.
Merritt is no stranger to the marine
industry, having been previously employed
in the marine industry for over
9 years. He gained valuable experience

during that period.
DM Boat Sales offer boating packages
