Preview by the Ottawa Citizen: On Friday and Saturday night at the Options Jazz Lounge of the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, veteran jazz pianist and composer Steve Holt leads a quartet that includes the potent Montreal saxophonist Donny Kennedy and his fellow McGill University faculty member, bassist Alec Walkington, as well as Ottawa drummer Tom Denison. Holt, a 63-year-old who made a splash in the early 1980s with his Juno-nominated debut album The Lion’s Eyes, has been more active musically in the last few years since he retired as a financial analyst in Toronto. The music starts at 8 p.m. each night and there’s no cover.
